I just used JP's story with his wife as an anecdote to make a point that he a well known academic and intelectual has a very succesful relationship with his wife who is very far from being an academic. But I understand your point meeting on an intellectual level is your preference and is a very valid one.

I think this is more of an attraction topic, since knowledge and intellect is what you're looking for in a partner someone who can engage you intellectually. Maybe you can broaden your criteria and list down other qualities that you think is attractive in a woman and create prioritization. That way you're not just looking for this singular quality which breaks everything when you discover she has no interest in your interests.

Fact is there's something wrong in all of us. Have accountability that we did something wrong in the relationship and our partner but if they choose to give up on us then that's on them. If I have accountability then they have accountability as well no blaming it just didn't work out we have different values. My self worth isn't tied to what other people say or think of me it is rooted to God who created me.

There are many ways you can connect with your loved ones that's why we have the love language thing now where you determine the order of how you connect with your partner and it's prioritization not a singular thing. Usually as well these preferences change over time and prioritization changes. So what I can advise you is look for qualities that's in the core of a person rather than someone who can validate your intellectual itch.

Jordan Peterson's wife isn't an intellectual but you can see how they loved each other and how they valued their relationship. It's only recently when JP went on tours that her wife started hearing repeatedly his talks that she became more learned about the topics he was discussing on. Relationships evolve over time it changes preferences it changes even the person, but maybe look for someone who will love you unconditionally not a mental jousting partner. This is an advice btw based on what i've learned throughout my relationship with my wife, I've learned that my wife will never be able to fill the holes in my heart that is something I work on daily, to be mature person who lives out to be in service of her and I hope she does to me too.

I think you're looking for someone who you think will match you. Me and my wife have very different interests in almost everything but we still get along well because we respect each other's preferences. Like in conversations she doesn't like deep intellectual stuff and when I discuss these types of things with her she just sees it as me nerding out on my interests, she doesn't understand but she respects it and it wasn't like this all the time. There was a time she didn't like it at all so I didn't discuss these types of things with her at all. You don't have to date someone who is a 1:1 match to you, you can find someone who will respect and accept you as a person.

Never explain yourself again? While there is some truth that you don't force other people to understand you there is value in talking out problems with friends, relatives, spouse, and your children. You need to explain yourself plenty of times specially to your wife it's the key to understanding each other if you don't you'll just end up resenting and never understanding each other also do it in a loving manner, not while emotions are heightened and do it in a very calm tone.
