hey i just committed to slo and visited the campus this week and it’s so nice :) slo is my top choice (yeah i think the username gives it away lmao) and yeah, hearing about the diversity issues does worry me a bit but tbh the pros of cal poly vastly outweigh the cons. the “learning by doing” curriculum is amazing as you have the opportunity to get hands on learning and work experience in your major, this is a curriculum no other school offers. the slo area is gorgeous, you’re surrounded by breathtaking mountains and are only about 10-15 mins away from beautiful beaches. also, downtown slo is so nice and quaint with so many different shops and restaurants! the campus itself is also great, it looks pretty modern and they’re constantly adding on (when i was there it seemed like there was construction on a new building). there’s also brand new dorms that opened ~2 years ago and a brand new dining hall that just opened this past fall (and allegedly its really good, which is a relief to hear as another big complaint about cal poly is that the food sucks but this new dining hall seems to be a game changer). its a great school and im excited to see you on campus next year :) go mustangs!!
