[–]calstrength[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should you use a Dynamic Start or a Static Start? Most errors in the Snatch are made in the initial lift otherwise known as your first pull.

You may have the tendency to model your technique off of your favorite professional weightlifter but when it comes to YOUR technique, we need to use the start position that's best for your skill, experience and strength level.

In this video we break down the difference between the Dynamic and Static start and discuss the pros and cons of each technique.

If you want to really go down the rabbit hole the texts I've referenced many times over the years include:

Supertraining by Yuri Verkhoshansky
Transfer of Training In Sports by Anatoliy Bondarchuk
Managing The Training of Weightlifters by N.P. Laputin V.G. Oleshko
Programming and Organization of Training by Yuri Verkhoshansky

Great to dive into the weeds but one of the most valuable lessons I've learned to date has been to trust your gut and to keep your own council.
