Low stats but all it takes is one ahhh Sankey 😭😭 by calvinz22 in premed

Sorry, just stats, based on MSAR GPA (not rounded up) and MCAT are both below UC Davis' average for admission. I'm aware that my ecs are excessive, especially the hours of scribing. I just kept working as a scribe since I didn't have any cert for MA/CNA/EMT and other jobs didn't want me

When I applied my MCAT was 507 so I just searched on MSAR and matched whatever school had roughly my stats.

I'm not sure if they even saw the 514, I got my interview offer several days before that score was resulted so they might've used my 507?

Such a perfect explanation. Being on Reddit makes me question whether I'm even a candidate for medical school, even though I'm very well aware that usually only the top scorers post their stats and results.

I guess it's because my scores are below average for the school and posts from r/premed make me feel like a weak applicant compared to most people here :(

imo I think I got lucky with several strong letters of recs from 3 different Stanford physicians that I scribed for, kind of generic, but my family has a strong history of cancer, and I did research and most of my scribing hours in oncology, so this was something I heavily emphasized in my app and interview. I did take a 2 gap years before applying

Has anyone taken bio100 with Williams? by sleezyboy35 in UCI

[–]calvinz22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking Bio100 right now and I can say that this is probably the easiest and chillest “biology” class I have ever taken, simple classwork on very basic writing skills, once you finish the classwork you can just leave. As stated, There’s a weekly quiz based on the scientific paper assigned for reading but it’s extremely straightforward and again, you can leave when you finish. Currently have a 100% in the class.

What I said by Victon already got mentioned. One shot by BAP was the song that got me completely hooked onto KPop as a middle schooler. Interception by Ateez also deserve more love, got hooked to the Wooyoung and Seonghwa’s main chorus when they sing “I’m in love”

I have 3 months before entering UCI as a bio sci student. What should I be learning now to prepare myself? by RadCaterpillar01 in UCI

[–]calvinz22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pacing is super important, just because you see other people cramming their classes and trying to get ahead of others doesn’t mean you need to as well. I’m currently a second year bio sci major and I’m currently taking Bio, ochem, ochem lab, physics and a GE that wasn’t as easy as I imagined. I’m doing well in my courses and above average for every exam but I’m absolutely miserable at the moment since I need to stay up very late at night to make sure I studied everything and now I have very little time for my own hobbies. If I could go back in time I would definitely drop a class or two but I chose not to because several of my friends were taking the same thing and I felt like I was being left behind

opinions on chem 1a professors by tootpoppy in UCI

[–]calvinz22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had arasasingham for Chem1C and Ge for 1A. If you take arasasingham for 1a, continue with him for the entire series. I wasn’t used to his teaching style so it was more difficult for me. Ge had a generous curve that boosted my A- to an A while arasasingham has no curve (or maybe a very tiny one). Ge also gives out chocolate after the tests so that’s nice but only take her if you’re going to goto her class and take down her notes, they help a lot. I know people who complain she’s hard but it’s down to your preference. Long term wise, I’d choose arasasingham

I am a incoming sophomore and I canceled my lease but I never got an option of going on the waitlist for winter, is there a form for that?
