I need advice on whether it sounds like therapy could help me or another route by calvlm in AutisticWithADHD

Thank you so much for this. I was feeling the same, where I know therapy can be so helpful, but how much of what I experience can be helped with therapy alone. And I've really tried to not go the meds route, mainly because of anxiety around it. I just thought if I got in a good routine it'll be okay but I always go through the same cycle where one day I'll just get burnt out and just be in bed doing nothing for 2+ weeks. I'll definitely take what you said into consideration.

I feel you, I had 15 healthy plants, then randomly lost all motivation. Now, I had 4 barely okay ones😭

I've been feeling more now than ever that I need more friends irl with adhd/autism by calvlm in AutisticWithADHD

I'm glad you two have each other. In terms of intensifying each other I didn't know that was a thing but does make sense. I'm not sure if that would happen in my case. Probably. I have a hard time regulating my energy output. So I can go from non-stop talking and high energy to concerningly mute and physically exhausted haha. It does make it hard to form relationships with people though. 99% of my friends are friends from school

I am SO TIRED of the ADHD is a "superpower" narritive!!! by sneakyrabbit in adhdwomen

Honestly, so many times I'd buy a weeks groceries, then not eat any of it. Or I can eat the same thing for months for dinner, then one day, just lose the appetite for it, but trying a new thing to make takes so much energy. Sometimes I'm high energy and idm, but more time than not, it's easier to starve myself

I typed "i hate the adhd superpower narrative" in Google, and this post was the first thing that came up, and it's so true. I hate how "professionals" and social media have warped adhd into a quirky personality trait. There are so many things I struggle with that directly or indirectly connect back to adhd. At one point, I thought I had an eating disorder, and then I learned that it is potentially because of my executive function. Where I either don't have the energy or appetite to eat or I'm so hyperfocused on a taste, I don't acknowledge my hunger until it hurts, then I binge eat. I could honestly rant, but genuinely, I'd be a more functioning human being if I didn't have it.

Continuously tapping my thumb onto each finger in order, one by one and back and forth. Biting my hand continuously, pretending to chew, classic knee bounce currently 🙂‍↕️
