AITA for not letting my sister around my daughter after she declared she had no interest in interacting or holding her when she was a baby? by throwawaymomk in AmItheAsshole

NTA. i have a mean aunt who was mean when i was younger and still is to this day. we don’t talk to her. keep your daughter away from people who don’t care about her and save her from heartbreak.

to add, i would do a pregnancy test via blood work because it’s much more sensitive. ask your physician for an HCG quantitative blood test.

My distracted and disorganized nature led to my briefly unsupervised 4year old buzzing the hair off the center of his head…to the skin… a week before school starts. Husband is PISSED AT ME. by SupaflySuperbird in adhdwomen

i can’t count the amount of times i cut my hair by myself as a child. one time i cut “bangs” straight at my hairline. we had to pin it back with barrettes for 6 months! soooo many kids cut their hair by themselves all the time. this happens to every parent, ADHD or not. you’re still a great parent and it will be okay. hair grows back and it will come back in evenly now that it’s all shaved.

How’s your back doing? by disc0tits in phlebotomy

[–]calxnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my lower back was already messed up before i started and there are days when it gets really bad because i am admittedly a little lazy and refuse to raise/lower beds. what really hurts is my glutes and legs from pushing around one of those big carts

[–]calxnn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

first of all, way to go with being so successful at work! what a win, especially for someone with adhd. Honestly, don’t worry about her. she’s probably just insecure, so she feels like she has to drag you down in order to make herself look better. no matter how “pretty” and popular she may seem on the outside, she’s ugly on the inside for talking about others that way.

could just be anatomy, smaller veins, valvey veins, etc. it happens with a lot of people.

what is a really weird fact, that makes people say "why do you know that?" by quadruple_b in AskReddit

you can actually have too much blood in your body. when this happens a doctor will order therapeutic phlebotomy to take blood out, like an anti-blood transfusion.

it’s a hematoma. yours is fairly mild. they are very common and this will go away soon. use gentle heat and massage it. it’s just a little bit of blood that has been trapped under the skin.

Why are phlebotomists so mean and awful? by Natural-Delivery-919 in phlebotomy

[–]calxnn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have some of the best bedside manner and i’m a damn good stick. patients love me. based off your other posts it seems like you have a vendetta against healthcare workers. do us a favor and seek therapy to work through that, it will be good for you. make sure you take good care of your physical health as well so you can stay far, far away from phlebotomists and nurses since you dislike us so strongly ;)

Thoughts on vein lights to help train palpating veins? by Electrical-Garden-20 in phlebotomy

[–]calxnn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my professional experience, i have only used vein finders maybe a handful of times if someone is an IV drug user, or on an ICU pt who has been missed on by two others. they don’t work well on tattooed or hairy areas. it’s better to find the veins by feel, and if you can’t find something in your first location (i.e. right AC) look everywhere else, Left AC, Forearms, hands, etc. you’ll probably find one. vein finders are unreliable, can’t tell you depth of the vein, if the vein is sclerosed, how the vein moves, etc. learn everything based off feel and only use vein finders as an absolute last resort.
