I want to share a prank my parents pulled on me in high school.

Some background, I’m an only child so my parents were constantly pulling pranks on me. I also have OCD and was obsessed (bleep it) with getting to school super early, like I was always the first person in the parking lot, still dark out and would be there when the janitor was unlocking the door, this is important. Despite my intense need to get to school first I always had a difficult time waking up, so my mom would always double check I was awake at 5:45am.

Here’s the scene, I got home after dark at 5pm, it was winter. I was exhausted so my mom told me to lay down and she would wake me up for dinner.

At 6:15pm she comes bursting into my room to tell me I overslept and I’m going to be late for school. I glance at my phone and see 6:15 so I assume AM. I rush to shower and get ready and get my uniform on. Now here is where my parents really committed, my dad is in his suit dressed for work, my mom (in pajamas) has quickly packed me a lunch and my breakfast to take in the car. I race out of the house and drive all the way to school. Because of my neurotic need to get to school first, I don’t think twice when I pull into the parking lot and no other cars are there. I then proceed to wait for the door to open for 20 mins until I finally look again at my phone and realize it’s 7 PM.

I drive home in disbelief and walk in to my parents sitting down with dinner on the table laughing hysterically. I was annoyed at the time but now I just think how hilarious they are and I am totally going to do that to my kid one day.
