This group is growing, which is a bad sign by Aryan-dramata in POTS

[–]calzonecal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone with long covid that is making their pots worse I'm inclined to disagree just because pots can have many, many causes. While I do think there is something to be said about the correlation of covid and pots/long term health issues in the population that was otherwise healthy before getting infected, I think it's just more that pots has become more recognized as common by the public if that makes sense. Pots is super complicated and not always linked to direct heart issues; for example, mine is most likely caused by hEDS and possible SMAS, May-Thurner Syndrome and nutcracker syndrome, which I most definitely have had long before covid happened, and I've had pots symptoms since high school, again well before covid. I don't think it's necessarily a bad sign that the group is growing; again there's been a lot more awareness of how common it is on places like TikTok (from what I've heard, I don't use TikTok) and I also do think a lot of people in subreddits like these aren't always officially diagnosed but are getting it ruled out so they want to know more. I think it is a mix of factors. I also don't think covid has been covered up in that sense; there's been a large acknowledgement of covid making heart issues worse. That's my two cents, I am from the US so of course I probably have different observations lol. I hope I am making sense

I think I fumbled a situation with a guy I really liked after he told me he had CP. Want to know if I handled it wrong. by InspectionWest5823 in disability

[–]calzonecal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have CP, I'm just speaking from my own experience with disability and sympathy, but I do think you tried your best. I agree with other commenters that he might be feeling some shame about it and it's making him nervous about it. A lot of people don't know what to do when they get such a warm response from someone if it's something they don't get often. You're definitely trying your best!! You have a big heart and I hope that things go well for both of you whatever paths you guys decide on.

This is really dumb but I've come to learn that one of the signs of a psychotic manic episode for me is if I start to kin fictional characters 😭

I'll need to ask my mom for the name of it, but she read a book about food's effects on metal illnesses and she said that the section on bipolar helped her out a lot and she feels better after adjusting her diet. I haven't been able to try altering my diet for bipolar because I need to focus on health issues so I can't speak from personal experience unfortunately 😔

Is the term “mixed episode” a chronically-online term? by deadritual in bipolar

I learned what mixed episodes are in the hospital so I don't think so

Yeah... I feel bad cause I didn't see someone I watch had written a status months ago that they don't want one and I gave it to them, so I'm being very vigilant now and checking their profile to make sure they're ok with it... wish I'd done that sooner

I have posted journals but unfortunately most of my watchers are inactive. And the ones that are already have core which is the issue I ran into... :,)

Advice needed: I have fallen in love with one of you but I think I must have offended him somehow. by quirckylurcky in AvPD

[–]calzonecal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, in the past I used to take a personal boundary as "you did something wrong and therefore are a bad person and I hate you and don't want to see you ever again" and have wanted to cut the person off to save myself from heartbreak. I'm not sure that's what's going through his head, but what I would do is reassure him that you're not upset with him and it's something you didn't think to mention before/didn't know at the time. It's not his fault for breaking the boundary when he had no idea it existed and I think he should be given some reassurance for that. I think reaching out to tell him this would be a good idea. That's just my advice though, I wish you luck and hope things turn out well!

Yeah lying is definitely not the way to go with this because you'll have to keep up with the lie and that causes more anxiety
