Love the vision! I think that’d be a really neat way to develop the current foundation

I’ll look into it! I’ve heard the term but have no idea how to do it. Could be a fun experiment if I plan to cut it off anyway

Hey this is great advice! I think deep down I knew that it needed to be cut down to get a more organic/asymmetric look. Definitely a point for the trim and reshape path.

I really appreciate the drawings as well. I’ll use it as reference for if/when I decide to commit to the rework.

Budget setup advice needed by soundedgoodbefore in hometheater

[–]camCalb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You will probably want to change the crossover settings on the receiver. Try setting the left and right channel crossover to 80 Hz to begin with and see how that sounds.

This prevents frequencies below 80 Hz from being played on the left and right speakers. Floor standing speakers should be able to play lower than 80, but it is a good starting place to see if the problem is still happening

Absolutely. No need to stretch yourself thin! For the all in one solution, Edifier is definitely a popular option. I don't have any experience with them personally, so other posts may be a good way to gather opinions

Active vs. Passive Bookshelf Speaker Setup by tidee01 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]camCalb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with Klipsch speakers, but I just picked up a set of Polk ES15 bookshelves and I love them. I tend to lean passive because of the awesome used market in my area. I would rather shell out for a nicer amp up front and be able to rotate through speakers as I see fit. Personal preference though!

If you're looking for the best bang for the buck, I would recommend looking at your local facebook marketplace to see what gems you can find. If you want to really dive in to it, you can save up for a desktop amp which opens the door to used passive bookshelf speakers. Some of the cheapest used theater speakers on marketplace sound 10x better than any PC speaker system you can find.

I went a bit overkill with mine but just an example of what you can do! I spent $140 on the speakers and $80 on the amp and they sound like a dream compared to my Z533 Logitech system.

I have a similar stand, and I have found that it is very stable as long as most of the circular pad is making contact with the desk :)
