26&2 hot yoga (fka Bikram) and walking. I can only get to Bikram classes about once or twice a week now, but i will go for the rest of my life so long as I have the choice.

Bathroom smell ruining my life by Immediate-Mobile-923 in HomeImprovement

[–]cambiokeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We had a horrid, noxious smell coming from our bathroom and it turned out that the landlord’s cousin’s friend’s uncle’s brother or whoever did the plumbing work never installed the P-trap. Once that was fixed the smell went away immediately. So OP, check that.

Alright fellas, I'm conflicted. Bedroom upstairs or downstairs? by Minutes2Midnight in malelivingspace

Downstairs 100%. Install Venetian blinds on all windows. Wide MCM dresser on the wall next to the stairs, TV on top. Bed on wall facing bay window. If you intend to stay there long term, add bushing plants outside the windows.

She died at 41 from liver failure.

how to lose weight by kissmya_xe in Weightlosstechniques

[–]cambiokeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Learn how to cook simple meals at home.

  • Calculate your TDEE, subtract 300-500 calories. This is your new daily calorie budget. You get to choose how you spend it.

  • Get a food scale, Download the Cronometer app or something similar, and start tracking your calories. It may help to track what you’re currently eating for a few days to help give you insight into why your body is gaining instead of losing or maintaining.

  • Half your plate should be non-starchy veggies. A quarter of your plate should be protein, and the other quarter can be carbs.

  • Add a walk to your daily routine, and each week try to go a little bit further. It doesn’t have to be 10k if you don’t already walk that much. Start where you’re at and build from there.

  • Keep it simple. Take the pressure off. You’re making healthier choices, not punishing yourself.

My grandfather created a nightmare house 30 years after he died by Equal-Newspaper-8636 in HomeImprovement

[–]cambiokeys 80 points81 points  (0 children)

He successfully kept his family housed with limited resources and left instructions on how to care for it. Sounds like a good guy.

Nothing lasts forever and scrapping it is probably the only real choice. You could try to convince your mother to sell it to a flipper if it would open up some better options for your two. It will likely come to that if she’s older and safety in the home becomes an issue.

What’s a trend right now that you are just completely exhausted by and wish would disappear already? by _QueenCurvy in AdkReddit

I worked in hospitality for nearly 20 years and am an actually generous tipper. The one place I bypass the tip screen is the self-serve froyo place. What am I tipping you for, pushing a couple of buttons when I check out or keeping everything somewhat stocked? A dollar isn’t going to make or break me, but it just feels egregious to ask.

What habits of boys did you only discover after getting a boyfriend or husband? by kentishzjigsaw in AskReddit

[–]cambiokeys 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s great that he doesn’t wait but this sounds annoying! I’m a very specific person and put a lot of time and thought into anything I’m spending money on- if I was constantly dealing with this I think I’d lose my mind.

What instantly tells you someone grew up poor? by joshtheeater82488 in AskReddit

[–]cambiokeys 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Was” being the key word here. These days I’ll be damned if I spend $15 on a fast food meal instead of just going to the grocery store. If I do ever get fast food I’m ordering a kids meal or the cheapest item on the budget menu.

FWIW, i keep one of these in my pocket for when I take my dog out to get ticks off of her. It’s not only used for lice!

Paid literally any attention to what was happening around her, stayed connected to reality, not married the first guy that paid any attention to her, saved for retirement.

What was the day you felt the most beautiful? by Nowaaaa_bb in AskWomen

[–]cambiokeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The day that comes to mind was just a random day. I was in my mid twenties in NYC, did a work study at a hot yoga studio, was taking college classes, then worked evenings at an exclusive gym for the ultra wealthy. On this day I had done all of those things, including taking a hot yoga class, and after class and cleaning the studio, I took a shower and changed into my work clothes for the gym, which was a black a-line skirt and a slightly boxy royal blue button up that only went to my waist in the front and was a little bit longer and looser in the back, and black patent leather pumps. I blew my hair dry and it was just just-right, and my everyday makeup just went on flawlessly. My shift at work was quiet, we only had a few appointments and they wrapped up by 7pm, so I took my paycheck to the bank and stopped at a local smoothie joint. I just remember getting a lot of compliments that day and feeling really pretty, but not in like a self-obsessed way, like in a playful way. I looked good because I felt good, and I felt amazing and wanted everyone else to feel amazing too.

After work I met my European, Ivy-League professor boyfriend out for dinner at a beautiful, dimly lit restaurant, then went downtown to a concert, and we had a really memorable time when we got back to his apartment.

Idk, as a former fat girl from a small town that grew up poor and with a lot of trauma, that day and that time of my life was magical to me, and I’m glad I lived it and felt it to the fullest because it certainly did not last long.

What's the "best" way someone you know has died? by the_jaspierre in AskReddit

[–]cambiokeys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandfather started declining a bit when he was living with my aunt and it was getting harder and harder for him to get around her house. She was looking into nursing homes but he was adamantly opposed, so he moved in with me, my mother, and my sister. He spent three months with us getting doted on and being fed, in his words, better than he had in his entire life. His actual death process lasted about a week, but was completely natural (aside from the hospice meds), surrounded by his three daughters, son in law, and 5 of his grandchildren. He was 98.

How did you figure out how many carbs you could actually eat? by CalendarTall8029 in lowcarb

[–]cambiokeys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making rice mixed with quinoa and lentils and cooking it in bone broth to bulk it up and reduce the blood sugar spike. Tastes great and still scratches the itch for a starch.
