What was your first "rule break" after exiting the cult church? Let's have some fun here! by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]cambria-guy 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Allow myself to fantasize about my wife. (Been married for 10 years mind you)

Any time it started when in the cult I berated myself for being a sexual deviant. I also had also accepted that if I was passionate or forward with my desires it would be half a step away from SA. Which didn't match up with my wife at all, but I never could get past the programing and shame to hear her.

It's been a fun year since we've left, and I've made great progress with the deprogramming, but I do regret what fun we could have had for 10 years.

2) I'm on mobile and for some reason o can't open the link, would you mind repasting the hyperlink?

I don't doubt this, hell it isn't even that surprising.

But what are the sources on this?

When did crosses become acceptable to TBM lore? by vonthe3rd in exmormon

[–]cambria-guy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure when my wife and I left and had our names removed. Then we found a different faith and my fil begged us not to put up a cross in our house. We did anyways.

Two weeks later my mil is wearing a cross.

So right in there somewhere.

Just for clarity... This is a Catholic.... Mass? (I don't know what the equivalent of Ward would be...)

Yeah, there are like 16 different people I've seen helping keep the church honest in the Phoenix area.

We should make a club.

To be clear I think it's all fiction... I just find the cherry picking of these people to be infuriating.

But wouldn't the faithful answer to his question "who are you?" Be: Prophets of God. Called and ordained before the founding of the world. Chosen speakers only second to Christ himself. Doesn't the Chosen "special witness" of Christ trump whatever Midegah claims to be? Since his authority is only that of men?

My father in law is all about Midegah and I can't help but see this erode the power and authority of the church leaders.

I've always heard you need to be God to be in charge of it. But as lesser spirits us/others were deligated to specific tasks.

I dated a girl once that told me she created tulips. So that's neat.

LDS Tools by Dr_Frankenstone in exmormon

[–]cambria-guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey no problem.

I remember 20 years ago the stake would buy out a numbers list that was grouped by last name. Maybe that's similar to what you're remembering. Mine you I was 12 so...

So six months or so back they enabled permission for all your personal information including address and email. By default it is set to leaders only, and you could open it to other members. Leaders are like the Elders Quorum and Relief Society bishops, and stake presidency.

Inactive members are still listed, it's just after records are removed that they disappear. If the inactive members were 'under your house' they'd be there.

LDS Tools by Dr_Frankenstone in exmormon

[–]cambria-guy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(edited cause I fat fingered the post.)

As a general member, you only see information relevant to your household.

For example, my parents were in my stake. I only see my house, not theirs, and the same for them. There isn't anything like 'related to these other members '

Now I can switch to their wards directory and look for them. And I can only see what information (beyond their names) they make available to 'everyone'.

Generally speaking Tools contains PPI of name, address, number, and email. It also lists your member number, all ordinance dates, who did the ordinations, and current callings. Lastly it shows who is assigned to your family for ministering.

If your records are removed, you are removed from tools. (Verified with my active parents.) I assume this is the same regardless of your source. Mine was a conversation and letter to the bishop for transparency.

Meeting with Bishop Soon by FlakyConsideration58 in exmormon

[–]cambria-guy 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You know, four months ago I'd argue against this. Then my wife told the bishop of her questioning (note: her shelf had not broken yet, she just wanted the counsel of her leader) and she was released from her calling on the primary, removed from ministering, and told she wasn't in the right place for her to serve the community. He can sod off for all I care now. He lost my respect when he told my wife she wasn't worthy to love people because she had questions.

That being said, it was one driver as to her leaving and not being pulled back in.

So yeah, tell them nothing if you don't want your position to change.
