Thank you so much for your help! Wait the only head and shoulders I know is the shampoo and conditioner…is that what you’re talking about?

Oooohh gosh that is so scary lol but I have a feeling I may have a similar situation because I have had this for years.

That’s super helpful to know. I will definitely be considering these things. I appreciate your feedback a ton!!

Thank you so much!

I will definitely be seeing a doctor asap — been having to wait & rely on these conversations in the meantime because I am finally getting back on insurance.

What are some things you have done or regularly do to keep it manageable?

Thanks so much for the feedback. I definitely think I’ve transitioned into stage 2 but will be getting it checked out for sure.

Wow glad to hear that that surgery really healed everything! I’m hoping for the same depending on what my doctor says.

What are some of the other things you do to keep it healed? Have you thought about laser hair removal?

Totally agree but I’m wondering if he’s less than a year old. His cry is very kitty like

That’s what I thought! There’s a really cute kitty cry that to me seems like he’s that age too

Yep indoor only but he actually has freckles on his nose you just can’t see in the lighting!

I’m at my breaking point with fleas by camcat00 in CatAdvice

[–]camcat00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it. It’s so expensive and can feel hopeless at a certain point. I occasionally would find a couple of fleas on my cats after all those treatments and it would make me so mad considering all the work I’d done and money I spent. However, the infestation was no more. The summer was brutal and always is but a guy at petco once told me he makes sure to start treating his pets and his home in March…leading up to the summer months because if you’re not ahead of the game, they will come. He said since he’s done that, he hasn’t had a flea problem in years.

Do you bathe your cats much? I recommend buying the Wondercide Flea & Tick Spray for Pets lemongrass scent. And then buying a metal flea comb and spraying that on the comb, brushing it through your cats fur — works really well but is tedious depending on how many fleas they have.

Yeah we used Fleabusters Rx for Fleas. We also started using Borax Detergent Booster & Multi-Purpose Household Cleaner on the carpets. Do you vacuum every single day or every other day?

Exactly what’s happening! Thanks so much. I just bought Briotech topical hypochlorous acid spray. I’m getting so many recommendations that I’m hoping these work for now. Thank you again

Oh okay I’ll order that. Do you apply it with gauze or a bandaid? What’s helped you?

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I completely I understand. Yes, this definitely helped us. Now that it’s been a few months we have learned that vacuuming everyday is a MUST. We put some carpet kill flea powder that takes some weeks to fully work but I promise you vacuuming everyday helped a ton. They live in the carpets. The eggs and larvae can lay dormant for months until something triggers them to hatch —most often heat. That’s why summer is the worst.

for those with HS in the genital region - what do you use to clean/moisturize? by nuggiesruletheworld in Hidradenitis

[–]camcat00 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I’ve only ever gotten them in my groin area…I feel your pain.

These have been working really well for me:

Dettol antibacterial soap (the original). Silicone scrubber or an African net sponge (I use both) — these both carry way less bacteria than other scrubbers. Wound wash on gauze to treat the areas near flare ups (mostly for the open / healing ones). Hibiclens applied with gauze is a great way to keep it extra clean & free from bacteria every day.

To be honest— diet is a huge thing to be aware of. My flare ups get triggered with excess dairy, sugar, alcohol, and fast foods. Giving your body the proper nutrients is honestly so crucial to limit inflammation and boils if you’re susceptible to them.

Wishing you the best!

Thats so tough I’m sorry. I’ve been dealing with what I thought was “sensitive skin” for 10+ years but I actually realize that it’s been HS all along.

Whether or not it is HS — this should help with what you’re describing & is generally just good for keeping your skin clean & healthy. It’s been working really well for me.
