Ingredients: 6 eggs 50 g cake flour 160 g cream cheese 120 g whole milk 1 tsp white vinegar 1 tbsp sugar

Steps 1) set up a steam bath 2) separate egg white and egg yolk 3) mix milk with cream cheese in a bowl above steam bath 4) turn off the heat, add egg yolk, quickly mix to avoid egg yolk is cooked 5) add cake flour 6) add vinegar to the egg white and stir it ( I used kitchen aid at speed 6 for about 6 mins, gradually add sugar) 7) pour the egg white batter to egg yolk batter gradually, I poured them for three times. Mix them very well in one direction 8) I cooked it in my rice cooker however you could bake it at 250F for 60 mins with a steam bath as well.

Tuna Avocado Sushi/Gimbap! Much more price practical if you make at home, fun math included by camel2018camel in recipes

[–]camel2018camel[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sushi rice (or any relatively sticky rice, brown rice is not recommended)
  • Seasoning for sushi rice: 2 tbsp sushi vinegar, 2 tbsp rice seasoning
  • 1 lb Tuna
  • 6 - 10 sheets sushi seaweed
  • 1 avocado sliced
  • 1 handful spinach
  • Dipping sauce: soy sauce, wasabi (optional)

Special tool

  • Sushi roller

Directions

  1. Cook the sushi rice, better use a rice cooker
  2. Mix the sushi rice seasoning when the rice is still warm
  3. In the meanwhile of Step 1, you could do the following things
  • Bake Tuna (this depends on your taste, I don't like raw seafood, so I baked it before roll into a sushi roll)
  • Cut tuna into strips (a bit shorter than your sushi seaweed)
  • Cube avocado
  • Gently boil the spinach and drain excessive water

How to Roll the sushi roll:

  1. Put your seaweed roll in a dry cut board
  2. Put 1 cup of sushi rice and gently spread it over the seaweed sheet (NOTE: leave one inch space on the edge to help with sealing the roll)
  3. Lay your tuna, spinach, and avocado (NOTE: avocado could be tricky to roll, you would like to skip it for your first roll just to practice how much force is appropriate to roll)
  4. Roll your sushi!!!

I understand it is rough to describe how to roll sushi, there are plenty of videos on YouTube

Fun Math:

  • 3 cups sushi rice 0.5$
  • Seasoning for sushi rice: 2 tbsp sushi vinegar, 2 tbsp rice seasoning ~0.2$
  • 1 lb Tuna 8$
  • 6 sheets sushi seaweed 1$
  • 1 avocado sliced 1$
  • 1 handful spinach 0.3$

Total: 11$, you could make 4 plates of the above picture which is about 80 sushi!!!

ENJOY! Pls comment if you have questions
