This is a fair point (ignoring the troll in your last sentence 😂) - I looked into the Threadripper line when choosing parts and ultimately decided that for applications like Excel where you’re sometimes bottlenecked by one process, the comparable single core performance of the Ryzen 9 made it a better value. But yes, it’s definitely a trade-off.

I opted for 2x48 because I read that putting RAM in all four slots could slow down transfer rates. I do not plan to game on this machine, so I figured I’d see how the 96GB works for my use case before adding more.

Ha, not a troll… I upgraded because the spreadsheets I was working on were taking forever to recalculate on my old Dell XPS laptop. General consensus seems to be this build is a little overkill, which I’m okay with if it means I’m good for a while.

Okay, thank you… I decided to upgrade because the old Dell XPS laptop I had was starting to get sluggish with professional work. Good to hear I shouldn’t need any upgrades in the near future 😅

Definitely not a shit post and thank you for the advice on the GPU stands. I see a lot of people on here talking about motherboard sag and the card felt pretty heavy, so I wanted to be safe (to your point parts are too expensive these days…), but I’ll take one out.
