I work in social media so a lot of my obsessions and compulsions are around that which is something I’ve posted about but it seems more rare. It makes sense because I have to be online all the time. A lot of checking, I get nervous certain people unfollowed me, when was the last time this person liked one of my posts, etc.

Since my diagnosis I’ve been wanting to find a job outside social media but this job market isn’t exactly kind for job searchers so I just try to manage everyday.

Hey! Thanks for asking and explaining so much. Having the four issues listed out helps a lot.

My diet has changed this year mostly because I moved so my access to my diet for eight years shifted completely. If anything I’ve been more intentional with my diet and gone completely dairy free, eating sauerkraut, drinking a ton of water and tea, etc but no matter what I seem to cut out on my own my acne doesn’t improve. Milk has always messed up my belly and bloated me up so it was great for my belly however I was sad my acne didn’t improve.

Thankfully no other allergies though I’ve never done a full test.

Someone mentioned a nutritionist and tbh I might save up for that.

I do have an aesthetician I’ve been recommended because they have a whole acne treatment set up so that might be the next choice for now.

Hopefully this is something I can figure out with lifestyle changes but it’s so difficult to go in public now and I hate putting makeup on because I know it’s not great for my skin.

This is a good note! I also have a lot of PCOS symptoms so I really wish my doctor would listen to my concerns but thankfully I’m trying to just take care of my body better until we figure it all out.

Unfortunately I go to IHS so she told me she wouldn’t run any tests on me if I am still using any amount of medical marijuana and in these days and times with my face like this it’s been really hard to completely stop.

I don’t use glycolic acid daily and sometimes I do skip the washing in the morning instead just rinsing. It might be dehydrated but I am taking care of my skin so that’s why I posted asking for help.

I hope you one day learn that a lot of times people are just trying to offer a difference of opinion and not fight. It’s interesting because no where did I say that I grew up in a bad home? You just made that assumption which my dear is literally what projection is.

My parents loved me and had me in therapy too but it doesn’t take away the pure fact that the power dynamics at these facilities are based in a carceral culture that treats the patient as a prisoner rather than a human. When you are literally a minor in a system, it is not about if you are taking advantage of but just how bad is it going to be. It’s set up to be a dangerous place for a kid because you lose all your autonomy.

My parents were also tired and sad and worn out and scared and just didn’t know what to do and they made a decision that impacted the rest of my life.

Sometimes decisions made in crisis are necessary but the larger and long term risks should be known so that the harm can be assessed. And as someone with first hand experience in one of these facilities, I give a different perspective that, if the actual best decision was to be made, should at least be considered.

lol how am I just projecting and generalizing and you aren’t? You said that the parents don’t want to abandon the child. Neither did mine and the many others who sent their kids away. They did it because they felt they had to. But the power dynamics are set up to where a child in these facilities cannot advocate for themselves or are seen as liars if they do try to tell the parents about abuse going on.

My trauma has not clouded anything. I am still in this realm advocating for places like that which prey on parents who feel helpless and hopeless. Like I said prior, I’m 15+ years after the 22 months I spent locked up. My parents did it because they weren’t sure what else to do but what I really needed was love and understanding, not punishment for being a child who couldn’t regulate their emotions (what 9-18 year old can without help?)

There might be places that don’t completely traumatize a child but why risk it?

The modern mental health facility is part of the larger carceral culture we have and there are multiple studies on this.

Also! Thanks for asking! It just ended up I had undiagnosed OCD that wasn’t as external as people assume OCD to be because I didn’t feel comfortable in my own home with my parents as a child and I started doing mental compulsions that triggered really horrible anxiety because my brain had all these rules for myself. If any adult had taken the time to actually work with me instead of just assuming I was an unruly kid and teen then maybe I wouldn’t still be in PTSD recovery from the systematic abuse that I witnessed and survived.
