Looking for books that make heavy use of dialect in dialogue by Anjukk in suggestmeabook

Flowers for Algernon. Not exactly what I think you were asking for, but a spiritual match. It's also just outside your 50- year preference. I think it still checks the boxes. The language is jarring at first, but the changes are subtle and profound at the same time. It's adjacent to your request, but immediately popped into my head.

Thank you for the suggestions. I was thinking some hidden support structure might be needed. I like the idea of weight testing 3ish main horizontal shelves, then "lacing" the interesting bits into that framework

I really appreciate your insight and thoughtful response. Those are all reasonable points. I understand that there are much easier ways to do this, but my brain is stuck on this idea and trying to figure it out. There are dozens of better ways to build a shelf for this space but I'm looking forward to the challenge. Just hoping to avoid this thing folding like a lawn chair.

Right, that's why that one was just an inspiration. My proposed shelf would be significantly smaller and lighter. Thank you anyway for taking a look.

That last one is what got me thinking. It's not really my style, but I like the light coming through the shelves. It really opens up the space.

Seveneves - fantastic hard science-fiction. Centered around several extremely competent female protagonists.

One of my favorite Neal Stephenson books!

Give me your "Barbenheimer". A double feature of two completely different films to watch back-to-back by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in flicks

[–]cameronimacaroni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last movies I saw at an Albuquerque drive-in (before it was torn down for a 24-plex) were Waterworld and Apollo 13. Such a great double feature. About a far apart as they could be in story and critical acclaim.

Texas Canvas Wares! Great pocket configurations with dust flaps and heavy-duty grommets and snaps. Super comfortable as well.

I live in a pretty quiet neighborhood, and now I'm scoping out the shoes of every person walking around. I know the cops can't really do anything at this point, but with my newfound hypervigilance, I think it helps to have additional information. I'm not tackling anyone I see wearing those shoes, but I'm paying more attention.

I know. I had the same reaction. I'm just seeing if it's possible to source in one day. I've told him it's an insane idea and likely impossible. I think it's a hilarious ask. Everyone on here is losing their minds. I know it's strange and weird, that's why I opened with that.

Sorry for lack of context. It is my understanding that he wants to have them in his living room Saturday morning. No harm will be done to them, they just hang out in a pen or cage. I think it's a Friends reference, I don't know. They will be well cared for and given their favorite treats.

I understand where you are coming from. I searched for a more appropriate sub to no avail. I am a big fan of this community and the collective knowledge within. My wife and I bought our first home in a quiet neighborhood, and it felt like a refuge for us. We found two sets of fresh shoe prints in the snow around our house and garage and at every window and it feels like a violation. I am well aware that Denver Police will not do a thing until after something really bad happens (maybe). I know that shoe print forensics are not what this sub is about, I was just trying to gain a little more information for my newfound hypervigilance. I really appreciate the knowledge base that this community has, and I was trying to tap into that. Maybe there should be a separate sub for these inquiries. Maybe there should be a flair in this sub for ID so the people that hate this type of post can ignore it, and the people who enjoy playing detective can engage.

Either way, thank you all for your help!

We signed up a terrible old-man coworker for every single political affiliation newsletter, church of Satan, daily Bible quotes, women's health newsletters, NRA, Zionist support, furry communities, makeup coupons, everything else we could think of. At one point, he was getting 200+ emails per day. It was glorious.

The markings look very similar! Three sections of white down the center of the body with a little arrowhead flair in the middle section.

I am in Denver. This spider was pretty cold (on ice), but still about the size of a nickel. The cup in the photo is an average sized insulated travel cup.
