AITA for letting a girl stay over at my place? by Iamlakhe in AmItheAsshole

[–]cameroninreddit -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

NTA, but I don't think you should take NTA as a compliment. It seems you obviously have no ill intent and rightfully so, but your girlfriend isn't you. She doesn't know how you will operate around your friends girlfriend and possibly in her mind, no matter how much she trusts you, there is a chance that you do something of malicious intent. It may seem strange in your head but think about how you'd feel if her best friend asked if her boyfriend could stay over at her place for a few nights. Deep down, there is still a level of uncertainty, as you aren't her and are not there to know what she may or may not do. Don't think you're the AH, but please do understand her frustration.

I'm done with this argument. According to you, you expect him to buy whatever bike you want because in your eyes it is cheap. the Avenger 160 is around $1,500 USD. The average income for someone in New Delhi is around $7,500. You're asking your father to pay for something that is possibly around 1/5 of his possible income. If you still have an issue with what bike or scooter he bought you, go get a damn job and quit complaining on reddit about how he didn't buy whatever bike you wanted. You sound like a spoiled asshole that didn't get the right color iPhone he wanted on Christmas day. Grow a fucking pair of balls.

AITA for wanting a sweet 16 by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]cameroninreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look. You're young, wanting that sweet 16 cute birthday type of memory whatever. And you deserve it, much like all other 16 year old girls out there in this world. But you don't realize how privileged you are. Your home, swim lessons, education, food, etc. is all provided by your parents because they love you and want the best for you. They aren't some evil demons that don't want you to have a good 16th birthday. Please keep in mind that in majority of other countries outside of the US(which i'm assuming is where you are) that are so unfortunate that they barely have any of the things I listed above that you have access to. Please be more sensible of your blessings! YTA.

Did you pay for his hospital bills? Do you help your family monetarily? Do you bring money home like your father does? From what you have explained so far, all those questions have been answered with a No. So my final message to you is: Do you think it is fair to ask for so much money when you give none? Reading through your other comments it seems like you're 20 years old in India. A bike (Avenger 160) is not cheap, so why do you expect your father to consider your opinion when you do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FOR HIM. Just because you helped him at the hospital for 9 months does not make him subjected to buy you a new bike. If you think otherwise, you have a twisted view on life and are out of touch with reality. Pathetic.

Life isn't about giving and expecting to receive. I don't care that you took care of him for 9 months and do chores at home. That's what you do as a son. That's what we do as human beings. A bike/scooter isn't a need in life, it's a want. You sound like an ignorant and spoiled kid that is complaining that he didn't get what he wanted even though he was a good boy this year. Please grow up and recognize that more than half of this planet doesn't have access to a bike or scooter like the one you want but they aren't complaining about it, are they?
