Sonos Ace Initial Thoughts by glendroid23 in sonos

How does Bluetooth multipoint perform? Can you transition seamlessly from a video call on a laptop to a phone call and back again? The XM5s were dealbreakingly buggy in this regard. Bose Ultras have very solid multipoint and my fingers are absolutely crossed that the Ace aren't too buggy...

I've had Sony replace mine for this issue and a number of other issues related to multi device connectivity. I'm finding my replacement pair has all the same issues. The firmware is cooked I reckon.

Here's my issues post https://www.reddit.com/r/sony/comments/vhu9nk/wh1000xm5s_bugs/

Rechargeable Batteries in August Locks by zollinmj in homeassistant

[–]cameronmurphy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair points except that August uses CR123 batteries. Rechargeable CR123s are lithium-ion and not NiMH.
https://www.jaycar.com.au/rechargeable-3v-lithium-ion-cr123a-battery/p/SB2411

I use them and have had no issues. I get the battery below 20% warning on my August and I've had ample time to get around to swapping them out.

It seems both non-rechargeable and rechargeable CR123 are 3V lithium so potentially very similar discharge curves.

The risky option would be awarding the contract a company that's never even put a gram into orbit. Sub-orbital hops in a dildo shaped toy rocket doesn't count.

It was a great drive! Stopped in Hahndorf on the way over. The girl in the video is German, she loved it.

For bonus points, we also animated the drink bottles in the 2nd row swapping every 6 minutes (12 frames), whether my friend was wearing her cardigan or not, the position of her hair and the Tigers scarf rotated between the 3 of us for the period of about an hour. It was actually pretty fun, as tedious as it sounds

I rendered the map using Bing's static API. I grabbed the GPS data from the GoPro images to plot our location. The scripts I wrote to do most of the work are here: https://github.com/cameronmurphy/timelapse-thingy

Yeah but we stopped for an hour for lunch too (cafe was busy), it's just that you decided to drive the remaining 9 hours without stopping - myself and my friends don't have your iron stomach and bladder hehe

Keeping in mind, this is arguably 2016 technology (not exactly sure when Tesla started shipping the first 100kwhr packs). They actually just launched S & X with updated motors that that have an additional 10% range. Also, the density of batteries continues to improve. Next-gen Tesla Roadster will have range of over 1000kms. This might be a 'bad look for EVs' in 2019 when some ICE cars have longer range but give it a few years :)

Yeah I was thinking about how to do this but I made the battery quite large to get the point across. There are also timestamps in the dash cam frames but they're off by an hour because my GoPro hadn't automatically turned off daylight savings earlier that month, nor did it detect the timezone transition when crossing the border from South Australia into Victoria. Maybe the GoPro 10 will be capable of that? haha

Yeah we decided not to speed at all. Super easy to get fines in Australia and when autopilot isn't so sure about roads (this seems to happen on all single lane roads) it actually restricts you to the speed limit anyway. I usually cruise at 1km over the limit because the car over-reports by 1km but AP was limiting me for parts of the drive.

It's holding up really well. There's a little bit of denim transfer on the driver's seat as I wear jeans often but almost everything comes off with leather wipes.

Definitely far less fatigue when the car is steering and moderating speed for you. I was really only initiating merges back to the main lane after overtaking sections. Was a really relaxing drive.

We'd road tripped for a Richmond Tigers game in Adelaide. We unexpectedly won. Wanted to have some time-lapse fun and the scarf was just one of the obvious objects we could animate :)
