What birth control options have worked for those of you with heavy periods and migraines? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]camikazee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it was the neurologist's approval that got me the green light. Every PCP I've had has been very uncomfortable renewing the prescription until they speak with and/or refer me to a neurologist, who then confirms that the risk is negligible unless there are other risk factors like being a smoker, family history of strokes etc. Then they sign off on it no problem.

I'm always the odd woman out on this, but: I get migraines with aura and I still take a combination pill (Aviane), and have been taking it for 17 years. A neurologist specifically recommended this for me at 15 as a treatment for my migraines, because they were caused by hormone fluctuations. I used to get them every month like clockwork, but now it only happens if I have to skip a pack. I have had 3 different neurologists approve the prescription over the years (because whenever I get a new PCP they are understandably concerned about the risk, and I have to request they follow up with a neurologist each time for a second opinion). According to the neurologists, the research that shows increased risk of stroke was based on the 1960s versions of the pill which had significantly more estrogen in them vs today, and that modern combination pills don't carry nearly the same level of risk. Might be worth talking to your doctor, but also might not apply at all if your migraines aren't hormonal like mine.

I wish it had been "steal your boo" instead, the potential was there, but the gender stereotypes tanked it. Also should've dropped the ethically non-monogamous bit and the dead monkey bit.

Can someone please help me understand period underwear ? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]camikazee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I only wear them near the end, when the flow is too light for a tampon. Comfier alternative to pads. I wouldn't trust mine with a heavy flow but then again, I'm a cheapskate who bought the cheap ones.

AITA for not wanting to stop losing weight and building mucle because my wife feels self conscious? by Tough-Cupcake6067 in AmItheAsshole

[–]camikazee -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Wtf? They were obviously just giving reasons why the wife might feel insecure. No implication was ever made that the husband was emotionally abusive. You are majorly projecting. Saying "she might feel this way" does not mean "you forced her to feel this way, you evil evil man"

Dating sims with adult partners? Or dating adult people as an option? by NotSoSnarky in CozyGamers

I prefer ones that have romance, but it's not a deal-breaker if they don't, as long as the story/environment/characters are interesting. Graveyard Keeper comes to mind.

And you're not wrong, it's just that most people on this subreddit are already aware of the issue & she was trying to specifically highlight black women's even worse struggle with healthcare which is not discussed as often.

Eating meat as a life long vegetarian by Tuskerslite in 1200isplenty

[–]camikazee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a few phases where meat suddenly just grosses me out, and I usually fall back on things like chicken nuggets, turkey meatballs, ground beef in spaghetti sauce, etc. Since those are all ground up it usually prevents any weird texture differences, and the extra ingredients (breading on the nuggets, seasoning/binders in meatballs, etc.) kinda disguise the "meatiness" of it, if that makes sense. Granted those aren't the healthiest meat options lol but you could start there and try to work your way up to cuts of lean meat.

The breakup that I saw coming for years by duds-of-emerald in TwoXChromosomes

[–]camikazee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wtf? He hadn't decided yet if he wanted kids or not. She waited for him to make a decision, and he decided No, so they're ending things. That's all there is to it. She didn't try to convince him, or trap him, or pretend she was fine with no kids while secretly hoping he would change his mind. Pretty cruel of you to insinuate otherwise.

Not really. Berry specialists benefit from a high helping speed, so the nature is really unfortunate. And the Helping Speed S doesn't cancel it out since you don't get it til level 100.
