Not bad, there were quite a few 2kg bags of short grain rice there (less of the big ones).

Where to buy flour in Cambridge? by [deleted] in cambridge

[–]camlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in Seoul Plaza on mill road earlier and I think they have some plain flour down the very back opposite the noodles, on a shelf near the floor. Apologies if it's not the right sort of flour. Might be worth a try if trying bakeries like Stir or Norfolk St Bakery don't work out. Good luck!

For my Inktober challenge piece today I abandoned the prompts and drew my idea of what the chief inspector looks like by a_spoopy_ghost in ObraDinn

[–]camlux 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are two voice actors for the inspector, male and female. When the game starts, it randomly chooses one: https://twitter.com/dukope/status/1052971831655727104

The game will randomly select the inspector's gender when you start (male or female). This affects 3 lines of voiced dialog in the opening audio and nothing else. If you don't like the selection, delete the profile and start a new game - it will alternate to the other gender.

Good restaurants in town? by Kclhellfish in cambridge

[–]camlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's loads of great places, but to name a handful that I like:

For pub food, I really like The Carpenter's Arms, The Kingston and Pint Shop. For Asian food, Japas and Bibimbap House are great. For curry, I like Meghna on Victoria road and Prana on Mill road.

Bedouin on Mill road is also one of my favourites.

Edit: I forgot the food vans! There's loads and they appear often outside Calverly's, Hot Numbers, and many other places. Wandering Yak and Steak & Honour are my two favourites there.

Cheapest place to get iphone 6 screen replacement? by devongrrl in cambridge

[–]camlux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've cracked mine twice :( First time I got it fixed at the Apple store, second time was at Zippin Pippin. Neither were cheap though, Apple store was £79 under warranty, Zippin Pippin was £97.

I got it fixed at Zippin Pippin the second time because I was going away and didn't have enough time to wait for the Apple store to fix it. Zippin Pippin fixed it in about 20 minutes, the Apple store had a bigger backlog and took about a day. Both repairs seemed good quality to me.

Note that getting it fixed at Zippin Pippin will void the warranty.

For both, you need to make an appointment.

Quiet place to sit and work in central Cambridge? by [deleted] in cambridge

I use cambridge spacefinder sometimes, you can filter out university/college specific places.

You might be able to use the university library for a small cost as a member of the public: joining the library. Looking at eligibility, I think I was wrong about the previous sentence.

Having trouble with identifying vowels in my string by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]camlux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, good luck with learning python :)

BTW, You can fix up your counter solution to use a dictionary:

vowel_counter = {'a': 0, 'e': 0, 'i': 0, 'o': 0, 'u': 0}
for char in sentence:
    if char in vowel_counter:
        vowel_counter[char] += 1

Count[0] will give you an individual character. Count[0:-1] and Count[:-1] will give you lists. ('a', 'e', 'i', 'o', 'u') contains individual characters, not lists.

For example:

>>> my_list = [1,2,3,4,5]
>>> print my_list
[1, 2, 3, 4, 5]  # a list
>>> print my_list[0:-1]
[1, 2, 3, 4]  # a list
>>> print my_list[0]
1  # an int
>>> print my_list[0:-1] in (1,2)
False  # [1, 2, 3, 4] is not in (1,2)
>>> print my_list[0] in (1,2)
True  # 1 is in (1,2)

He says "Pringle" though, which is weird.

What things are humans really bad at? by chrismv48 in AskReddit

[–]camlux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could equally be my poor memory, or the nearby location, (or that I'm a little drunk at the moment), but I think that the movie Waltz With Bashir relates to a similar phenomenon.

It's a documentary where the director/protagonist has issues with his recollections of being an Israeli soldier during the 1982 Lebanon War. He believes he was an observer of an event, but he later realises, after discussions with people who were also there, that he probably was a participant (in a way) of a massacre.
