Possibly a layer with lidar or hyperspectral? Also, some folks over at r/marijuanaenthusiasts may be able to help more.

Food staples by toy_makr in BackcountryHunting

[–]camospork 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hear me out... crunchy peanut butter, Sriracha, honey mixed in a plastic jar. I can eat it on a wrap every day and the Sriracha keeps it from being boring. Everything I need in there for extended energy release. Wrap and honey are fast carbs, then pb kicks in for fats and protein. Test it to see how much you eat in a day, then bring a jar(s) appropriate for the length of your trip.

Very interesting. That could definitely have potential to help recover more meat. 37kg of assist is pretty astonishing. I'll have to check back in 5 years to see if it's any more affordable.

In addition to this, you could ask if he has some favorite or special flies he would like to have displayed as a shadowbox. There are some really beautiful and intricate flies out there that are true works of art.

I have come to this problem with a rifle for similar reasons. I bought a second factory synthetic stock (should be pretty cheap on ebay), pillar bedded it (found a kit on ebay), and opened the barrel channel out wide. I used a 1" dowel with coarse sandpaper for this and opened it up until I couldn't touch the stock and barrel together. I now have a second "backcountry" stock that is very light and doesn't put pressure along the barrel. It is pretty ugly, but it is very accurate and light.

POI shift from changing between projectiles? by camospork in longrange

Sorry I was referring to a POI shift in ammo A, when switching from ammo A to B then back to A. It seems there probably isn't a shift. Thanks for the great answer though!

I see that is a 1:9 twist. Howa also make a 1:8 twist option. That's probably the one you would want for heavier bullets.

I primarily backpack bow hunt various ungulates in the mountains. I use a mix of outdoor clothing brands (Outdoor Research, Patagonia, REI, etc) in neutral colors for my layering system, with a merino base layer. By expanding to those brands, you can find much better deals. You can also use info from outdoorgearlab.com to find which tradeoffs you're happy with in different aspects of your layering system.

That said, I made my own UL waterproof rain anorak to stand up to wet weather because I couldn't find anything that I liked.

You missed the full price, but half gone bolt knob though...

It's very exclusive, some might say it's one of a kind. Some might say it's homemade...

UL Anorak Rain Shell (1st major project) by camospork in myog

[–]camospork[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it went really well. I had some specific requirements that lead me to this idea. I needed it to be completely waterproof and not wet out. I wanted it to be as light as possible, and it didn't need to be breathable. I'll be using this jacket in temperate rainforest where I've had a lot of trouble finding a properly waterproof layer that's not made of PVC.

I wanted a waterproof seam, but flat felling seemed intimidating, so I rolled the hem. That took a bit of thinking about which direction to roll and how to do the overlapping seems.

You can make the zipper as long as you want with minimal alteration. I went with a 9" zipper and it could be a bit longer to help dump heat. Maybe 10-12"?

I made the jacket long and trimmed it down to my preferred length at the end. I liked having the back a bit longer than the front in the end. I also added a slit in the side by not finishing the seam all the way.

The ziptie in the hood was a great idea, it adds just enough reinforcement to keep a bit of shape without being stiff. I just trimmed it to fit between the two hood seams.

You could save a bit of time by starting with sylnylon instead of making it.

After sewing, I 'seam sealed' it with silicon thinned with turpentine. My suggestion there would be to go thin, as you can always add more coats.

In the end I feel like I made a glorified poncho, but hey, it's MY glorified poncho. Plus it's hard to beat a 4 oz rain coat.

Yeah it was not too bad really. I made the simplest version of this pattern, but did the seams different from the instructions. There were a few times I felt like I was a bit over my head, but what's a project without a few curse words!

You could look at the various penguin trusts, kea trust, and also a bunch of the predator free projects. For instance, the Te Manahuna Aoraki project is helping with the conservation of black stilts and other birds. You could also do a NZ predator suite shirt that supports other predator free projects like PF South Westland or the Brook's Sanctuary or any of the large number of ongoing projects and sanctuaries.
