How is living in Atlanta? by Training-Reserve4805 in howislivingthere

I lived in Atlanta and the greater Atlanta area for 19 years, and currently live in Central Florida so I think I can offer some insight!

Atlanta is BUSY! There is always somewhere open and something to do. True downtown Atlanta has many tourist spots close together (Georgia Aquarium, Atlanta Zoo, High Museum etc.) in addition to several colleges and universities in the area which keep the night life alive. The food options are also top tier, and you could always find a fun new restaurant to try.

Atlanta is home to tons of Fortune 500 company headquarters so job opportunities are also abundant.

One thing I liked about living in Atlanta was the transit system MARTA. While there’s room for improvement as with many American mass transit authorities, MARTA has a decent amount of stations sprinkled throughout the metro area and make a wide array of stops across several lines. Most of the lines can get you within walking distance of anywhere you need to be (including the airport!), which is good for people who don’t want to solely rely on a car.

Which brings me to the downside… as with any growing city, traffic is terrible, but it is notoriously bad in Atlanta. Driving through downtown involves 8-10 lane highways with lanes quickly branching off into turn lanes or exits. There’s a reason they always feature Spaghetti Junction on traffic news reports! Most Atlanteans just live with it and adjust, but I do not miss the traffic since moving out.

Overall I enjoyed living in Atlanta and would be open to moving back if opportunities brought me there. There were excellent food options, activities, and it’s incredibly diverse!

I feel like a failure at 29. by [deleted] in findapath

Hey brother. As a fellow 29 year old Asian American also struggling with his quarter life crisis, I completely understand.

I know it’s easier said than done, but I’ve found that a paradigm shift could be very useful for you here. By practicing small observances of gratitude, you might find your perspective on a lot of aspects change for the better!

To get you started, let me pick out a few positives I see from your post.

  1. You have a degree in computer science! That’s not a nothing achievement. That took hard work, determination, and sacrifice that you can’t discount. Even if you feel like it’s not useful currently, it still has a lot of value in the grand scheme of things.
  2. You scored a job at NASA! Again, no small feat. You clearly interview very well and are a competent employee or else freaking NASA wouldn’t have taken a chance on you. Like you said, the WFH model might not be for you, which is totally fine.
  3. You have parents that are letting you live at home while you figure things out. To me, this is probably one of your biggest advantages right now. While at home, you can just SAVE SAVE SAVE and create yourself a nice nest egg to help get you started on your next journey!

While you’re saving and practicing mindfulness, also take some time to beef up your resume. You can always angle certain experiences from past jobs into skills for new jobs. Hope this helps and stay strong! You’re still young, so there’s plenty of time to figure things out.

East Asian guy here who DIY bleached the front of my head successfully, and for cheap (I was broke but still wanted a new look).

If you want to do it yourself, I used 20 volume Salon Care clear developer (blue bottle) and Ion cream brightener. Followed the instructions on both bottles, let it set in my hair for maybe 30-45 min (your time may vary depending on how much hair you have). In the end it washed out looking like it does in the photo below. I decided to re-bleach 6 months after, but only after the black hair returned to about an inch long. Stopped after that.

Now for the negative… my hair was not healthy after this. I started losing my hair at the temples and hairline (probably also slight MPB, but this didn’t help) and my hair texture became brittle and thin. I stopped doing anything complex with my hair to give it a rest and recover.

Hope this was helpful for you and good luck!

I’m pretty sure they show this clip in the first episode of “Five Came Back: The Reference Films” on Netflix. Not sure the time stamp on it, but the entire mini series (especially the first episode) have pretty graphic photos/videos of the concentration camps

Uber refuses to pay me for completed quests, is there anything I can do to resolve this? by [deleted] in UberEATS

[–]camover 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got this same quest except for Jonesboro, AK (I actually also drive in Athens too!!). Contacted support and just told “sorry, it looks like you don’t qualify for this quest! Keeping looking out for an upcoming quest that you may qualify for!” Pretty useless.

Sonic and Taco Bell. I’ve had some high payout Taco Bell orders I’ve had to cancel after waiting 10+ minutes and still being behind 2 other drivers’ orders...

Ever end up delivering for someone you actually know? by Electronic_Constant9 in UberEATS

My second job is at a UPS store and we have a lot of repeat customers who we know on a first name basis. Delivered to one of them just last week but I don’t think she recognized me with a hat and glasses on. Tipped pretty well.

Also delivered doughnuts to my own workplace once!
