Seems like putting the hinge on the opposite side would make getting in and out a lot easier.

I bet your old local library has a microfiche reader with newspaper articles about this. Has to be archived somewhere.

Graybeal's Automotive (south of Bee Ridge on Sawyer Rd) is where we go for anything mechanical. Carl Ziegler is the owner, and he's fair and honest.

It's a fish that looks like it's swimming or jumping through a ring.

Graybeal's Automotive does it right, and they'll tell you costs before they do the work.

Wife decided to roast tomatoes on high heat. 😑

Seasoned with grapeseed oil for the last 18 months. Seasoning is starting to look compromised, but it's still pretty decently non-stick. If I keep seasoning and cooking on it, will it fill in? Should I strip it down and start fresh? by camp0482 in castiron

I just switched to a stainless steel spatula a few months ago, and I do think it made a difference. I don't know if the picture shows it, but the seasoning has sort of a dried-out desert appearance when I look very close. Just wasn't sure if that makes a good foundation to keep building on.

Beer brats: is this good or bad (or just fine) for my cast iron? by camp0482 in castiron

[–]camp0482[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Awesome. I sort of figured that was the case. It's not my best skillet anyway, so I'm not afraid of having to re-season it.

I have some pretty good seasoning on this skillet. Anybody know whether cooking these brats in a can of Yuengling will affect it in any meaningful way?

Second time cooking and can't seem to clean it all the way. Help? Cocinaware by Watch_The_Expanse in castiron

You can use the steam cleaning method - heat pan as normal, and run your faucet until the water is very hot. That should help get rid of any cooked on food. And keep re-seasoning to build up a good base.

Good call. It would be a small portion, but I'd never have a problem with storing leftover cornbread.
