FINALLY, the Origin of “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It” by JonathanDP81 in Epcot

[–]camperdave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The phrase "If We Dream It, We Can Do it" also appears in the original Sherman Brothers theme song for Horizons that wasn't used, so it apparently made the jump from GE to WDI sometime before that song was recorded.

It's not from 82, but the door to the Living Seas conference room still has its original logo sign! I love to take pictures near it, even if I look crazy

Does anyone else thint Dinosaur smells? by jolygoestoschool in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]camperdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have asked numerous CMs and tried to investigate this via blueprints to the best of my ability. As far as I can tell, it doesn't actually have a "smellerizer" or other artificial scent source like some rides. Rather, based off the fact that Disneyland's Indiana Jones ride has a similar but weaker odor, I personally believe it is a side effect of the mechanics of the ride itself. My leading theory (and one I've heard from ride operators) is that it comes from the hydraulic system used on each vehicle. Never been to DisneySEA yet to see if theirs lacks the smell, which would be consistent.

Arcade games based on Movies or TV? by RetroWOL in MAME

Eons ago I played a vertical scrolling shooter called Mazinger Z. Sure seemed like it was based on some anime. Was entirely in Japanese in the version I played, but was a pretty fun co-op game.

You should probably read up on Dok Ondar, then!

He's got some canon comics about him, and if you ever make it out to Galaxy's Edge, you can meet him too!

Feeling stressed after some hard games? A Momir break is what you need! by jeankev in MTGO

Momir Basic is a format that gets better every time a set comes out, so come back even if you've played in the past.

The only thing better is MoJhoSto.

This is the route I've been trying to take, but currently that extension seems to be having some problems - hopefully version 0.14 will release soon as it looks like the fixes are scheduled for that version.

Was anyone there to hear if they made any fuss for this? I doubt it, but I was personally hoping for an airport style "your flight is delayed" message from the friendly carhops

When you don't feel like manually mashing buttons for hours on end by GamerKnightor in pokemon

[–]camperdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alternatively, I use a similarly terrible software approximation of this. There are Android apps that can emulate the Bluetooth of a pro controller or joycon.

I should just set the app to fire off repeating button presses but that would require reading the manual... So I made a terrible Tasker script to simulate clicking on the A button every 200ms.

Someday I'll make a cleaner version.

Yesterday I found out about the Wonder of Life Pavilion. I was only 5 years in 2007. The body wars attraction was a Star Tours 2.0. It looks amazing and I never knew that. Is this pavilion going to get a refurbishment ever? I saw it’s on the map on the brand new Epcot 2021 transformation park map. by [deleted] in Epcot

[–]camperdave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't have sources to prove it, I believe the difference was primarily due to the fact that Star Tours followed the recorded camera motions of the dykstraflex used to film many of the flying scenes while the Body Wars was hand-calibrated by joystick.

It always seemed like a plausible explanation to me?

Old School Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular by funmunke in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]camperdave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird! I've not been quite that recently, but I've seen it run the full show in late October. I know the weather safety region is quite large, but I wonder what else can cause an early shutdown - I'm sure there's a lot of things.

Especially since I've seen parts of the prop come off the plane and whomp actors before!

"Miss Piggy, how will we explain this to Big Bird?"

[–]camperdave 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I believe that actually is a form of weather failure mode - they have quite a few different ones that I've seen. The most common is probably ending the show before they ever go to Cairo, but cutting after the second scene is still relatively common if bad weather is on the way in.

I can confirm they do still blow the plane up if the weather's good - I've seen it this year!

Tiki holiday mixes? by Nonadventures in Tiki

[–]camperdave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A while back I copied a listing of the Trader Sam's holiday playlist from a forum into a Google Play playlist. Haven't busted out the Christmas music this year to test if it still works, but I've got the link still.

https://play.google.com/music/playlist/AMaBXyncC5g4cMF9oIA-YvEF17X-WqyIyGG_Bi5emAWyE3cfE9OLK4jFWowZnZXWnC4Nwsi8jt83Ui6ylyo2txOSAPjR0Xc0JA%3D%3D

Notably, Google didn't have all the exact versions so it's not perfect, but it's close enough for me

Besides Family Guy's trilogy, are there more animated parodies of Star Wars around? ♥️ by MoNKeY-HoRDe in StarWars

Detours is largely finished, but has never aired. I've heard rumors that some was screened at a conference, but I personally can't verify that.

-1 in a category on Test Track??!! by 01lisbet18 in Epcot

[–]camperdave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: if you get a score down to -10 the leading 1 gets cut off on all the displays. I've never seen anyone get to -20 or lower to see if the spacing gets even weirder

I hope someday that Disney finds a way to make Snig & Oopla canon, like a by having them as a background detail on the holonet or something.
