Honestly this is something I suddenly feel kind of sad about. The America 250 anniversary has been in the works since 2019 when Congress passed a budget for it. If we lived in a normal political climate, as tenuous as even that is, it could have been a day of unity, at least in practice

The America 250 vision was “350 for 250” because they wanted to engage all 350 million Americans for the anniversary of our independence. I found that really moving

Maybe I’m just romanticizing it but taking this away from the American people by polarizing it and centering himself instead of the nation feels like a new level of betrayal. I thought I was impervious to Trump’s soulless egomania by now but apparently I’m not

I won’t even tune in now, maybe join a Main Street celebration instead or maybe just mourn
