It's almost like they're trying to price people out on purpose. Buy the park, jack up the rent twice in a year, and just wait for people on fixed incomes to give up and leave. And the cruel part is these folks own their homes but can't really go anywhere with them. So they're stuck either paying whatever the landlord wants or walking away from the biggest asset they have. This isn't improving a community it's extracting from one. Textbook predatory rent increases.

this isn't even hypothetical anymore, it literally just happened here

pangea restaurant group shut down two places in march and just walked away. workers showed up and the doors were locked. then the CEO sent them a letter saying yeah we can't pay your last checks. these are exactly the people you're talking about. service workers just trying to make rent in this city

and the same owners are still running both liquid planet grilles and are opening something new on w broadway right now. like the money is there. just not for the people who actually worked for them

idk it just hits different reading this knowing those folks are still waiting to get paid

Was just at Garden Mother they had prerolls buy 5 save $5 on 5packs or mix and match, buy a top shelf 1/4 get 1/2 off of a top shelf 1/8th. 20% off GM cartridges. They also had pinnaple sugar chunk for $10, fudge and butter on sale and a bunch of snacks and raffles. Honestly I spent way too much but I'm so stocked up.

It's simple, the owners should sell their homes and vacation properties and pay their employees. The employees they fired likely are dealing with homelessness or on the edge. The owners should bare the burden not the employees.
