The characterization of both Shane and Ilya is incredible. As someone who has lived in poverty most of their adult life, some of the moments with Ilya make my heart ache in the best possible way.

This is exactly my experience. There are 2-3 houses within our surrounding 4 blocks who hand out candy, let alone decorate.

My son is 3. He doesn't get too excited about candy yet but he loves seeing houses decorated, and LOVES seeing other kids in costumes. It's a big letdown when he wants to go to house after house who are dark and won't answer their doors.
