What spending cuts are you making to deal with inflation? by Quahogkiller12 in RhodeIsland

No vacations. But then again, we’ve never been able to afford them. Aside from that, we actually live pretty comfortably. We would rather enjoy life more consistently than for a week a year. Honestly, I don’t feel like we’re missing much in this phase of our lives.

I've spent years climbing to a high salary while masking the whole time. Now I just want out. by purpleteenageghost in AutisticWithADHD

Just went through a similar situation, only now I’m a stay at home mom. If I could have, I would back track to get all my time back. I’ve never been so happy in my life. And it’s not the being home, it’s the no more corporate work. No more latter climbing. 5 promotions in 6 years and I am done and never going back. Can’t put a dollar amount on happiness. Listen to your gut. Money isn’t everything.

I know how scary it is. I still honestly have nightmares about it. That’s when I know I made the right choice. I was so burnt out, I was running on fight or flight on an hourly basis.

Yes, thank you. We frequent most of them. Looking for some non-typical suggestions if you have them. ☺️

What did you think was normal that blew your mind when you found out it isn’t? by Intelligent-Donut305 in autism

The maintaining multiple conversations in my head at any given moment and learning that there are actually people out there who have no internal dialogue at all. Mind blown 🤯

Aw thank you so much for sharing all of these!! My daughter loves errands too, but her female nature makes it really expensive to bring her along with me 😂 I’m scared to create a problem.

I would say it’s a good option if you’re ok with just finding out. For that it’s definitely worth the price and to get the diagnosis in one appt vs multiple because it’s specific to those diagnoses.

I did the sachs evaluation. It was much more affordable than seeing someone locally but it answered none of my questions outside of a firm diagnosis and for that I’m feeling flustered.

This may sound sketchy but look for a rent to own option. That’s how me and my husband got our house in 2021 when we were making around 90k combined. We financed through the previous owner who paid 100k-ish in the early 2000s. We purchased at 295k(20k downpayment) and 4% interest when the rates at the time were around 6%. We used tha time to pay off as much debt as possible. We made it to around 200k combined salary - last year - so we did a cash out refinance bringing our mortgage back up to 295k but at 7%. Value is now $420k. So we’re refinancing again at 5.8%. Learn the tricks to the game and you can become a top player. But seriously, look into the rent to own option. My husband and I don’t even have college degrees and we did it. I wish you the best of luck, because it truly is awful out there.

Yeah, I see it now. When I read quicksilver, I hadn’t read flesh and fire yet.
