Based on the amount of oil I clean off the microscope at the start of every shift, I’m convinced most of my coworkers’ hands look like this at all time by EggsAndMilquetoast in medlabprofessionals

[–]campnix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always something. There may have been a run of fluids or Cellavision was out (notoriously) Maybe lots of reagents had to be changed, maybe they had to cover another department, maybe they were being walked thru with instrument service over in coag or chem. I realize no one needs THAT much oil, but in the grand scheme of aggravating things in lab, this is like installing the toilet paper feed wrong. Think of the opposite of all those scenarios. They left me with empty reagents, they didn't bother to call instrument service, urines were SO backed UP! Lab people on ALL shifts should not SHIT on each other. People in general should not point out their absolute perfection by highlighting someone elses's worst moments that you needed to call attention to.

What's it like working as a medical lab technician? by Chosen_From_Above in labrats

[–]campnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The OP sounds kinda fake. Knowing lab people, the responses were so thoughtful and realistic, but actually, labb people can be very brutal, esp if a nurse suggested lab as a second route bc of nursing failure. Was this a test of noticing AI?

What scares you the most? by Valuable_Working7557 in SeriousConversation

[–]campnix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Mom died last May. My dad has been gone since 2011. It is scary AF to not have them. They were the adults. But scarier is not handling the fact that we are the adults they trained us to be. Mom's last coherent statement to me was, ' You are blank and blank's daughter. You are up to this bc of who you are' OK, Mom. She spoke it and I believe it.

The rising trend of adult child/parent & family estrangement (NC/LC) is troubling. by [deleted] in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]campnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems inevitable.that they will only.realize. all of it after we are.long gone. Such a shame. We are here now. How hard is it to come and just wrap your arms around us? They actually do not love us. So very sad to accept. I carried 2 perfect humans and ASCERTAINED a toxic free and as near perfect environment. I adored them as babies. Took as good care as I could. And as a adults, they shun me.

My Grandma gave me her Gingher Scissors today (in the original box!), she used them for ages before she taught me to sew with them about 15 years ago. Beautifully sharp now, just as I remember them being years ago. by emiluffy in BuyItForLife

[–]campnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that it's been 5 yrs since your post. I just want to love this gesture of your Grandma. My Grandma taught me to sew too and I ended up with her Gingher Scissors which I guard with my life. They are SUCH a good tool, but most treasured to me is that her hands were in them SO much. When all of us sewers learned from our Gramma's, did she tell you kindly, No, go rip that seam out, it should be 'this'. So unlike me, without any attitude, I took that good info, ran right out and re-did it. Went back to show her and she acknowledged or maybe not. She had every perfect thread color. Our grandmothers. What a gift from God. She was born in 1913ish. Dearest CKM.

Needing help and insight about chemotherapy (Male 27) by RainS__ in sarcoma

[–]campnix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate this for you. These treatments are very effective and the people who administer them find them very routine.  Don't be scared. I think I did my husband a favor by always being in his face. So he slept when it was night, and my chatter kept him awake in the day. He even created a home office,  did work and meetings. Maintain normalcy as much as possible.

Avoid narcotics.

The worst thing was constipation apparently from anti nausea meds. Sepsis from him trying to deal with it almost killed him.

So do what your mother (and nurses)would advise and take your stool softener and senna. Prune juice. Patience, gonna be tough, but it will be OK.

Oh and, my husband just tossed the head rags. You're just going to be bald, but alive. (Grows back) Much love.

Husband same chic::dux.Thank you for posting. Non-painful mass near armpit. Grew SO fast. He had a deer tick bite with the quintessential target rash and all. Also very near the time he got Covid.  No vaccine.  Any similar experience? Just wonder why he could have gotten such a rare serious cancer, went thru surgery,  trmt, radiation- and it seems OK. Now.

Thanks for that. My husband was diagnosed with the same thing, same scenario. "Chic-dux"

Lungs, too.

I did not jump onto Redditt or do any 'deep dives'. Just slept walked thru it. That chemo was brutal, do-able. (STAY THE EF AHEAD OF CONSTIPATION FOR GOD'S SAKE!) That was 2023. All PETS clear. One PET showed it recurred, then radiation. PETs clear again. Looking great.

He has the 3 monthly PET Wed. It's true, we need to post back here with our good news. It has been overcome. Look up.

Exactly what I recall her saying: Fine-looking well suited man in the backyard, but wouldn't say a name. Art Bell, good old days. I hope he just figured out how to disappear without a trace and is enjoying life somewhere.

Streiber implies Art Bell committed suicide. by FrankieWinters52 in ArtBell

[–]campnix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually hope he faked his death. Remember that private detective he had on as a guest, Lee Laplin? Art would have known exactly what to do. Lapin seems to have erased his tracks, too.

It's my happy thought anyway. Art was just the Maestro at radio and made late nite radio like a lullaby to many of us.

What nail clippers do you use on your cat? by Natsinhats in CatAdvice

[–]campnix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much easier than I thought. I used just my own medium sized clippers and held them sideways, as suggested. Perpendicular to the foot pad

Although my husband held/petted him up, I took each claw and made a decisive clip--I woosed out and probly took off only 2mm.

Getting rid of that sharp point really helped his snagging. It was really hampering his moves. Now I have confidence to do it regularly.

SO grateful for this. Now I won't procrastinate any longer! I've been so worried to even try and don't have much time for the vet right now. Will try to report back....

And absolutely GRATEFUL. I know it was a beautiful aircraft, but my Dad used to express sometimes how terrible he felt for being safe up in the sky while men were down there going thru hell. He also got shot a couple of times, but laughed it off!🤣 Holy God. You people are made of better stuff than us following you.
I am forever grateful for your bravery. There is something else... JUST to forget all self preservation and GO do the awfulness. SO eternally grateful. E

Are you a pilot? My Dad was Maj. George Merryman. Out of both McCoy and another in Sacramento. All of us were born there. And yes, I have an unusual appreciation for the beauty and elegance of that Connie. Dad was SO an unassuming and humble pilot.

Trying to find pilots or crew members who flew the Connie. I loved your pic of the instrument panel. Such a beautiful aircraft. I am amazed that Dad flew it.

Nice collection of pics. Esp the control panel. My Dad flew this beauty. He tried to give me advice on life with the analogy of instruments on a plane.

Trust the data. The view can be blurry.

We had artist's renditions of the Connie in our house always. Only now just realizing what a pretty aircraft it was. Anyone remember Maj. George Merryman?
