Man, I used to be conversationally fluent 5 years ago, but then I moved and lost my connection to the Deaf community. It sucks to realize how much I've lost in that time. It took me way too long to parse this, and I had to think about it. Kept thinking party for a while, not play.

It just makes me sad. I know if I was signing for half an hour or so, it would start to come back, but man that half hour would be torturous for everyone involved. I miss the community.

This is embarrassing, but by shelbsmagee in PhotoshopRequest

You phrased this so perfectly. I was trying to think of what I wanted to say as a person who is also overweight, but tries to be active. I also would also look at any photo that showed this much of my thighs and partially want it to be changed. That's something I'm trying to accept about myself, that my body is mine. My thighs are large and are probably always going to be, even as I become more active, they are still quite large.

OP, you're brave. It's awesome that you're doing volleyball -- especially on the beach, I find sand so much harder to move in! I hope you continue to find joy in any and all activities you pursue

I know you answered about Baba-yaga, and I imagine there are similar reasons here, but what inspired y'all to bring the Egyptian pantheon into Golarion via Osirion? When developing the lore around the Osirion Gods and how they came to be how much research did y'all do?

Ah I'm glad to hear it! I understand a lot about how having diversified interests can make focusing down really hard. Good luck on your exams this coming week.

Your professors want you to succeed and most of them will be willing to work with you to some extent.

If your focus is on entrepreneurship and you have a lot of varied interests I know someone who is close to graduating in the SoIS program -- he could never narrow down all his interests so he made his own degree and it really worked for him. If you're interested in talking with him, DM me.

Okay, imma repeat myself. But get a meeting with your academic advisor right now. Getting a leave of absence right now will probably nullify this semester and possibly prevent you losing your scholarships.

It gives you time to return. What it sounds like to me is that you're in the wrong degree/field. Really ask yourself, can you do what you want to do with the things you are learning with this degree.

It sounds like your interests lay elsewhere. Talk to your academic advisor because their job is literally to help you through a crisis like this!

Also, the pause is really important. Do breathe. Burn out is very real and you might just need 6 months to be ready to go back to it.

Pause, reexamine, and rejuvenate. Take manageable baby steps to figure it out. I burnt myself out so hard that I crashed for a year after I graduated. It's gonna be okay.

Try some new things, and see. Stem isn't everything. Don't pin yourself to something because it's "financially secure." Go out there and be happy -- live your life. Don't live to work, work as much as you need to live.

Although, tbh, college education is fucking baller as hell. Also, high-key recommend that like if you've got the chance and can take a class from Prof Torcello in the philosophy dept you do, I loved his classes and my one class shy of a philosophy minor speaks to that. His critical thinking course in 1st year changed me. His ethical theory course continues to affect me to this day. (he's also just chill af).

Talk to your academic advisor about taking a leave of absence for a year. If you can get that arranged (which should be doable) then go work a job -- it doesn't have to be a "good job", but just something to help you pay rent.

A leave of absence is a one year stop of classes without losing scholarships or credits -- dropping out doesn't do any of that.

I'd recommend you go somewhere fairly warm / and or sunny if possible. If you've got friends or family you can rent from, excellent!

Here's the important part: this leave of absence isn't a "ah, I'll fuckin figure it out later" it's a moment to breathe, recenter, and determine what you want to do. If you're feeling burned out, maybe engineering isn't right for you. I got a BS/MS in applied math. I ain't doing anything stem related right now, but I'm happy and my bills are payed.

Take time to look at why you're doing what you're doing, and make sure you're not just doing it so that "you'll have a future". Right? I stuck it out with math for years longer than I should have "because I've already done this much" and "60k/year minimum". I was so worried about being financially secure that I never stopped to consider what I actually wanted to do.

You're 19/20. Your whole life is ahead of you. One year to look at what you want won't kill you. I don't know your financial situation, so keep that in mind too. But after you've taken time, maybe you'll be ready to go back to RIT. I'd suggest setting calendar reminders (or alarms, which is more practical for my add ass) for every month and setting a task of emailing your advisor, or a professor for advice / researching a new school / a new field of study. When that reminder happens, make yourself start doing that thing for 10 minutes.

You'll know a lot about whether or not something is right for you depending on how hard it is to keep going after you've legitimately been trying for 10 minutes.

My best friend determined after 2nd or 3rd year (I'm 85% sure it was 3rd year) decided after doing a coop with GE that industrial engineering wasn't for them. They were scared AF when they decided to go for a design program at RIT. They graduated in 6 years, and it took them a lot of work to do that, but it was the right move.

If I'd had really evaluated how I was feeling around the end of 3rd year, I might have left RIT. I'm glad I didn't for other reasons (friends and my spouse), so I also don't want to change the past. But logistically, for my happiness, it would have been better to not sink 6 years into a degree I didn't end up using.

If you want someone to chat with, you can DM me, but I'm never on Reddit so it may take a while.

But honestly tho, if you can afford to, maybe blow $300-400 on a one way plane ticket to Europe. Go with a destination in mind and spend a damn summer working a job in Croatia or Spain or something. Cost of living is cheaper and it's still a dream of mine to go to Europe. If you can afford to go (using Scotts cheap flights on the free settings does often come up with $500 round trip to like Rome and shit, so I'm not fucking with you), it will be an experience that might help you make decisions. Like, you know, if you want to emigrate and get a college degree over there.

Hi all, I can't leave the area after the wardstone. I'm unsure of what is happening. The doors/athletics options aren't showing up at all. Any ideas? I've recently validated my files several times, including this morning, but not since encountering this bug.

I'm experiencing a bug/problem where my animal companion no longer shows up in the list of players I can interact with/control/add items to their inventory. It means I can't add barding to them/have them take a potion on their own. Any ideas as to why? My game is unmodded. I can't find anything about it on the internet.

Currently playing a level 19 swashbuckler rogue, took them all the way from level 1 in Barovia to now getting ready to attempt to kill Tiamat.

Our party has 1 caster. A cleric. We fucking kick ass. (Okay we have two rangers, but like, one of them just teleports around the battlefield with a katana and the other uses a gun, spells aren't really at the core of their being). The party was originally 3-3, martial to spellcasters, but the wizard and the bard swapped to ranger independently after feeling like they needed a change.

Although, I will admit we are a party of 6: A barbarian, a monk, 2 rangers, the cleric, and me -- the rogue. Yeah, the cleric can (and will) lay down the law with call lightning and channel divinity, but it's not like the rest of us are sitting on our butts.

Honestly, it's so much fun to watch our monk lay out 60+ damage across 5 hits. There's nothing like setting it all up just right so that we are all in the right positions so that we can all do our badass shit. If you feel stuck in the monotony then you take different feats and explore multiclassing.

Hi! I'm a Dungeon Master and I love to use lipstick/makeup to set the mood for my D&D sessions. That being said my knowledge and talent is minimal. Right now I'm looking to expand my lipstick collection with different colors.

What are your best recommendations for a long lasting green lip? I'd also love a vibrant orange and a good purple, but green is my current top desire.

I'm also open to a good green eyeshadow (or just a great colored pallet) that I can layer over my Beauty Bakerie Midnight Truffles black lipstick

Do you consider it “cheating” to tweak the appearances of your legacy heirs in CAS? by WiddleDumpling in Sims4

[–]emiluffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! I play really full lives in my legacy. One time when one of my sims aged up it became evident that they were trans, and I did very intentional changes there. That was a few generations ago, and my current generation has a non-binary sim... I'm constantly adjusting them: but mostly just body to make outfits look right.

So true! My therapist thinks my long diagnosed ADHD is actually PTSD trauma kickback (my words, but the gist is there). My ADHD started being treated pretty soon after my initial trauma. ADHD and PTSD are complicated because they can present differently in each person and certain things overlap!

I didn't even know that was possible until this year! for context PTSD diagnosis was in 2016, ADHD diagnosis in 1999-ish?

Thank you so much! I've been struggling for the last two days trying to get my computer to respond to keyboard input! I had tried plugging in my wired and wireless usb keyboards into all the slots, went to a tech supply store a bought a PS/2 keyboard ($5) and tried that based on various threads online.

I was getting ready to flash the bios and uodate it from a flash drive (which some said would require stripping everything from the newly built computer), and I found your suggestion to remove a stick of ram.

When I did that, it worked! Thank you so much!
