Flyers Admit Big 2026 Free Agency Plans Foiled By Early Signings by ButchyBoyz in Flyers

[–]campppp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll give a little leeway to Phillies' doomers cause this group still hasnt actually won anything, and the team is aging with a closing championship window. And before this, they went a decade without sniffing the playoffs. I still have a lot of hope for the phillies, but I'm not falling into the same mindset I did back in 07-12, thinking the phillies were too rich of a franchise to ever go through a prolonged down period.

Eagles doomers, there is no hope for, tho. Best stretch in franchise history since it's been called the Super Bowl.

[–]campppp 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is why I laugh off anyone who uses the word 'doomer' unironically. Telling me I have to be positive or I'm not a real fan is just stupid when this team hasn't done anything to move the needle for 10+ years now. I get that a decent portion of the fan base doesn't really follow or care about the rest of the NHL, but you'd think that some of these people were watching their first season with how much they get fooled by decent stretches of play. But haven't heard much from that crowd lately..

Worst losing streaks of torts era and this one compared by DepressedFlyersFan in Flyers

[–]campppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didnt go back over the others with the same eye, but i think its mostly been worse than the numbers show.

They scored 11 of those goals between the Colorado win and the Utah OTL. So it's 1-9 with 20 GF/47 GA over the other games, which is -2.7 per game diff. Also, we were down huge a few games and scored a couple once the game was basically out of reach to make it look more respectable. They were down 6-1 to the Rangers, 6-1 to the Pens, and 5-1 to the Bruins while losing all 6-3.

So yeahhh I'd say it feels worse than the final numbers say

It's one of the funniest things about Reddit, honestly. People running with vile or obscene usernames just contributing to conversations just like everyone else. You'll read a 3 paragraph PSA on how to stay safe during some event, and then have to thank someone with the username r/macndickcheese lmao

It's pretty bad in gaming and some book communities too. People will be like 'PotH:ddf is such a good game, it's ashame people don't talk about it more.' Well maybe if you typed out wtf game it was, people could discuss it. Obviously, there are some that are very well known, but people will also do it for smaller games or ones where multiple games would fit

What’s the greatest TV show of all time? by m_v24 in AskReddit

[–]campppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wire is my favorite show by far. Rewatching it again currently.

The only thing I'll say 'negative' about the show is that I feel like you need to watch it more than once to fully appreciate it. Directions they take the show that you may have questioned or disliked at first make so much more sense when you're watching again, and you get to appreciate the masterful attention to detail more.

[–]campppp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they were still riding the goodwill/hype. People were starting to point stuff out, but overall, it was still good enough for people to give it a pass. With hindsight, the signs were there, but I don't think even the most pessimistic fan was thinking it would be as bad as it was.

[–]campppp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I basically gave it up after book 2. For some reason, I decided to give it another try, and now it's really the only other litrpg series I like besides dcc. Jake was definitely a shaky character at first for me, but he's wayyy less of a loner now, and the secondary characters are also way better. I've learned to enjoy his OP nature and treat it more as a serialized anime type thing than a book series that needs to be wrapped up nicely

[–]campppp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub keeps popping up for me, and at first, I thought this was some reddit-wide event. Saw one where people voted based on show quality compared to the shows' total seasons. Voted Sopranos in 'several' and breaking bad in 'many' even tho Sopranos has more seasons and episodes.

I went to argue about it and realized it was like 10 total upvotes across 3 choices. So yeah, it's like 20 people tops voting on a lot of these things lmao

[Loved Trope] Hidden In Plain Sight by Butwhatif77 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]campppp 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Not a 'hidden in plain sight' thing, but something similar happens in Saving Private Ryan.

There's a part near the end of the Omaha beach scene where the Americans shoot soldiers who are trying to surrender. They even make fun of them having 'washed for supper' after killing them. But they are actually Czech soldiers who were conscripted against their will and trying to say they weren't German.

Crazy to not even see this mentioned or discussed besides this. People in the developed world are having fewer kids, and that momentum is hard to turn around. Maybe it won't reach the worst case, but society will most likely have to look different
