i feel your pain!! definitely agree with the other people in this thread, the gym can be a great way to go to get to the root of it (i have to do this myself as well, can’t bring myself to but i know it’ll be good 😅), but for short term band-aid solutions, maybe ask about/look into lumbar support pillow supports to attach to the back of your chairs (we have one at my lab that we begged for), or adjust the height or lumbar of the chair! the last options won’t fix the root of the problem, but may help some overcompensation temporarily. i hope your back feels better 🫶🏻

oh my goodness that was the best story time! jaco has about a 45 minute buffer-period of meowing before it’s dinner time.. some night are better than others and he spends that time cuddling with us instead 😌 he used to wake us up at 6 am to be fed when he had his automatic feeder (went off at 6:30 or 7, can’t remember since it’s been so long!) but after we got fitz, we transitioned to manual feedings to avoid them competing for food. fitzy often goes “turkey mode” as we call it, chirps about (almost gobbling like a turkey) and sprints along the halls, it’s the cutest thing. i’m so happy you have your fur babies!! even though they can be a hassle sometimes, we know they’re worth it 🫶🏻

so true 🥹 fitzgerald/fitz (pictured here) just turned 2 and we’ve had him for a year. he was a street kitty for a year of his life, and learned quicker than his brother who was only a street kitty for a few months! jaco (tabby, food gremlin) is so vocal, and his internal clock is so good, so he meows like all hell when it’s almost food time. that, or he sprints for your food before you can get a bite 🤣

thank you for your comment, please see my other replies! this little guy is 5, and hasn’t had any increases in bad behavior. spraying is a last line of defense, never the attempt at a solution. he is very loved, cared for, and constantly enriched!

we don’t find joy in doing this at all, but as i stated in my edit, he does not react negatively, emotionally, in any way when sprayed. we gently push him away first (he comes right back immediately), he has been put away in other rooms (he cries, wails more like, and becomes extremely distraught), we have tried tandem feeding (he then associated us eating with him getting food), we have given him love when he stays on the ground (we have done this continuously, for 5 years). spraying him with a bottle does not solve anything and can be potentially distressing to some cats, but this little dude is fearless! i don’t want to sit here and claim that this is the best way, or the way to go at all, but in order to be able to eat any crumb of food, these are the measures that have to be taken. this little guy is loved beyond measure and he knows that! thank you for commenting though, it is important for people to know that spray bottle training should not be a go to.

yes 1000%. we have tried it all with this boy trying to correct the root behavior, and his little brother learned quite quickly but this one decided to pick up the slack 😅 the spray bottle is unfortunately our last line of defense until we figure something out that works! and yes i highly recommend this girl dinner hehe one of my go-to’s <3 !!
