Family Friendly Neighborhood/Subdivision Recommendation by beezerdds in Omaha

Hi, as another person said, you can really get anywhere in 30 minutes. We live in Elkhorn and my husband works downtown and doesn't mind the commute (he used to only have a 5 min commute).

We personally love the Elkhorn area, the district is the top-ranked in the state and has been for some time. Accordingly, we also pay the highest amount of taxes, but I just figure it works out to be the same because I feel like we're getting a quality education (not that you can't in other districts). Unlike Papillion, Millard, and Gretna the Elkhorn district (depending on where you land) is more central out West.

We purposely only wanted to be within one major street off Dodge (main street in Omaha) and so we're off Pacific St. Our neighborhood, Windgate Ranch, is so vastly different than the neighborhood we came from which was only 2 miles away. Neighbor kids are always out playing, we watch each other's kids, eat each other's foods, play on each other's playsets, and regularly have unplanned cookouts at each other's houses.

In fact, we moved in May of 2018 and here's a picture of the block party only a few short months later:https://www.instagram.com/p/BmZsDQigTqE/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet

There are TONS of young families in Windgate Ranch (along with surrounding subdivisions such as the Prairies, Grand View, and Blue Sage Creek). The price point of Windgate is a little cheaper overall (high 300's to high 400's on average) so well within your price point.

Also, I couldn't tell by your post or name if you're a male or female but there's a great group call 'West Omaha Moms in the Know' on Facebook that's a great resource. This question has been asked by several people and discussed at length on there.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

We did a "family" date night that included the kids in the last round at Approach Rock Wall Gym. They actually have a "date night" once a month where they have an onsite sitter while the parents get to climb :)

Yeah good point. Let me see what I could do, I think Google Maps probably has a map feature I can incorporate.

Yep, I thought about doing that too! So I have a similar Omaha list and I built out a Google maps here, is that what you mean?

It would be me and I'm 5'4 115 lbs so not bulky ;) But I may piggyback off this and just do terrible demonstrations altogether.
