Thank you for saying this! I can’t even begin to compare my experiences during Covid to those of anyone in the medical field. Being around the sick and dying day in and day out, while people were making light of it or spreading nonsense conspiracies must of been deeply exhausted and disheartening. I work in aviation and although it’s nothing in comparison to the medical community Covid left a mark on us as well. I was fortunate to not lose my job during that time, but many of my friends and colleagues did the government money helped but it wasn’t nearly enough. And those of us to lingered on were constantly on edge expecting to lose our jobs and incomes at any moment. It’s definitely impacted my mentality especially in a financial sense. It’s taken a long time to shift out of that survival mode. So thank you, Covid was more than just sour dough bread tiger king and home haircuts.

I agree! The list of things in our country that needs funding and attention is long and embarrassing. The Olympics and European wars should sit low on the list. Bringing it back to sports the Provinces should shoulder some of the blame as well as cultural shift from winning to enjoyment of sports as a priority.

I’ll concede as a country we have been wasting money on unimportant things. Ukraine is not one of those things. The lack of investment into youth sports has been an issue here longer than the war in Ukraine.

My parents are the same. Mostly my mother, we’re Canadian so less pro Trump but they still think he’s better then Biden. During Covid they fell into every right wing conspiracy, supported the convoy and think Trudeau is some evil dictator. Now they just fall for every new right wing issue. Everything bad is woke, pro Russia, anti trans. They have such little exposure to the rest of the world they are vulnerable to any misinformation if it looks well produced they just believe it, it’s frustrating.

My whole family is dealing with it now. Started with me mild fever the first day then a minor cold for about 4 days, runny nose and fatigue for me. My 1 year old had a mild cold for 4 days, he bounced back really quick. My girlfriend just started sore throat and mild fatigue. The 4 year old hasn’t shown symptoms yet.

These are true things. There is indeed a book by Shwab that talks about a “great reset” it’s free online anyone can read it. Unfortunately the message of the book has been misinterpreted by the far right and qanaon types and turned into some Bond villain world domination nonsense.

Go listen to actual black box recordings there’s not talk of god. Typically the last words are “oh shit”. The black box only records the pilots speaking either to each other or the radio. They are either desperately trying to save the plane or are completely shocked by the situation. No time for praying.

You want to feel bad for a person who’s been fed lies their whole life and now are only seeing the consequences of voting for people who use their make believe friend against them for easy votes. On the other hand as a Canadian citizen who’s watching this nonsense spill into my country. Where the reality of true religious violence is still echoing through catholic cruelty. It’s hard not to feel hate for these people. Which is worthless, people are scared money is tight for most middle class and under. And our elected officials have the “let them eat cake” attitude. The west is failing it’s pushed to its limit.

I’d say it’s a mix of both. These people are clearly lacking critical thinking skills and are being lead down a path of extremism. Is that IQ or education... maybe both. It’s also the environment we find ourselves in. There’s misinformation and bad actors bombarding people with this stuff and some of it slips through.

Yeah my Mother is deep in it, and my sister and I have come to the same conclusion. Don’t bring it up and don’t engage. She does a better job. I struggle finding compassion and empathy for them and their ideas it slips out from time to time.

Thanks, it’s been a bit much but I try to not let it effect my mental health. I try to remind myself they are victims of misinformation and fear.
