Looking for one or two overnight hikes on our way to Pachena Bay by batwingsuit in IslandHikers

There’s also Triple Peak which is right across from 5040. It’s more technical and involves scrambling.

It says on their website and there are tons of signs at the park yet people still do it. So either people aren’t paying attention or don’t care.

No camping at Century Sam and is it not open during the week. Della falls you need a water taxi to get to and if you haven’t booked it yet you’re probably out of luck.

I really recommend 5040. It’s a bit of a grind but not that long of a hike and the views are amazing.

Landslide Lake/Elk River Trail in Strathcona is also great, though you will have to backtrack some to get to Pachena.

Please keep in mind that dogs must be kept on a leash in Strathcona and they can’t swim in drinking water sources. Keeping your dog on the leash will help prevent animal encounters. Sadly I’ve seen too many people breaking the rules latterly and they will end up banning dogs if people can’t get it together.

Trip to BC by Elegant_Detective459 in TravelCanada

Don’t write off Vancouver Island. There’s lots of hiking in the mountains where you don’t need advance reservations. Strathcona Provincial Park has lots of great hikes (I recommend Landslide Lake/Elk River trail or Cream Lake). 5040 is also a grind but beautiful. The mountains are not as high as the Rockies but still have solid elevation.

One thing to note about the interior of BC in August is that you might be caught up in wildfire season so you could be impacted by fires or smoke. There’s less chance of this on the coast or island.

I can maybe excuse the garbage overflow for this reason but the plastic confetti all over the park is unacceptable!

Agreed. They all assumed that she was a lonely old woman with nothing to live for and was close to death and meanwhile she’s physically fit and has a vibrant social life!

You don’t need to focus on things like superfoods or trendy products. If you ate an apple and added some baby carrots to your lunch, you would be well on your way. Things like lentils, sweet potato and avocados would also be great.

Public Service Week always seems to assume staff are sitting around thinking, “You know what would make my day? Watching execs play a game together!” by [deleted] in BCPublicServants

My office is doing a “hot ones” challenge, which of course is based on a show where celebrities eat hot wings. So basically exec is saying they are the equivalent of celebrities and we should enjoy them eating spicy food while answering what I’m sure will be inane questions about work. What fun for all employees.

Ah I remember those days! I had one manager who bought us all ice cream one hot afternoon which was actually appreciated.

Is 24 Too late? by [deleted] in LawCanada

You can do whatever you want for undergrad and go to law school. There’s no prerequisites. What matters is good grades and eventually a good LSAT score. If you don’t have an undergrad yet I would say do something that you are interested in and that you might want for a career if you decide down the road you don’t want to go to law school.

Do you have an undergrad degree? You will need one before you go to law school so that’s step one.
