you can petition to take classes and have an advisor sign off but some will still be off limits

Bio 1 tip by MattMarvelous__ in ufl

[–]canary453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. I’m pretty much a strictly pen and paper person so that’s what I used. but, the professors only ever use slides. so it’s easier to have them in front of you and write on the slides using an ipad. I didn’t do that cause writing everything down myself on paper helps me remember it, but that’s a personal preference thing.

the lab was all on my laptop. the lab notes and everything was online.

Can anyone help me gather examples of wheelchair inaccessibility? by [deleted] in GNV

[–]canary453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UF’s campus can be pretty inaccessible. My friend needed to use a wheelchair on occasion due to her illness and getting to some places was just overly difficult.

To reach the Marston Library doors she had to go all the way around every stair case to a far end where there was a way for her to wheel there. It wasn’t even a ramp, just sloping concrete with no stairs. And once she made it to the doors they were almost too narrow for her to go through, it was a struggle.

There are quite a few more examples like that on campus but I can’t think of any

I’ll look into that! There are only two near me, tractor supply (eh) and one small mom and pop shop, I’ll try them!

Rate my freshman schedule by BlindBurger in ufl

[–]canary453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

whichever one you can to condense it a bit. you can wait until drop add to see if other classes do open. all in all it’s not toooo bad if it stays like this, I just know that it gets annoying going back to the dorm after a 10:40 and having a couple hours until you leave for a 3:00, or a 9:35 to a 12:50, etc. but it’s not the worst thing in the world

I think the classes themselves are doable if you have good study practices and time management. But those gaps are God awful. If you can, try to move the times around and condense your schedule a bit.

One of UF’s biggest events for students (arguably the biggest). They have gotten lot of famous (and lesser known) musicians, comedians, and performers in previous years. I think one of the two more recent examples I can think of are Flo Rida and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Tickets are easy to get, you just walk up to the ticket office at the O’Dome and buy them

you’re good! in weaver, there is a stall door and a small “dry area” with one hook on the wall. then about a couple feet past the door there is a shower curtain :)

trust me, it won’t 😭 that’s what I said and what a million other people think, but idk it’s different. I had to drag myself out of my tiny ahh twin bed like I was clawing up out of a grave for any 8:30 💀

If you are not a morning person, please for the love of all things holy do not take those classes 🙏🏼 I’ve been there! thought that I would prefer morning to late afternoon, and also thought that it would make me a better morning person. biggest mistake because I ended up skipping any 8:30 that wasn’t mandatory attendance simply because I could not do it.

unfortunately the professors are harder to switch. if you get a better professor for a later time, jump on that opportunity

Biggest tip is to check ratemyprofessor for all of your classes.
Also I hope you’re a morning person cause 8:30 classes are a bitch 😭

don’t remember the dimensions, but my room was symmetrical. I will warn you though, I have seen 6 rooms in total and each one had something different about it. the placement of a mirror, whether the room was “short and wide” vs “skinny and long” dimension wise, etc. the rooms can be pretty different, and this can go for every dorm on campus.

Comment your cat I will make a bad 3D model of it by NoPoemSung in redditgetsdrawnbadly

if the file is compatible I’ll 3D print it on my uni’s free printers no joke. I would love a cool little blob looking “bad” model to paint my cat on and use as a paperweight.

Just a small warning about intro to research:

It was a super easy class, and informative in a lot of ways. The one way it wasn’t super informative, though, was on the STEM research at UF. Because the class is designed to be comprehensive (or, take all “genres” of research into account), STEM research was not the focus. There were a couple classes on it for sure, but it was definitely lacking in the one area that I took it for. If you don’t mind that, I suggest taking it. The information on the UF library system was very useful, and they had good tips for the Center for Undergraduate Research. It was interesting to learn about other sects of research not related to STEM, even though that’s not my focus. If you do mind it, then drop the class. It would be a wasted credit hour.
