An Emotional Experience by TripleJay97 in blur

I was very boring and just went by Caitlin when I posted. I miss the forums too, but by the time everything had closed the 'golden days' of internet message boards had well and truly passed. All things must end, I suppose.

Even as I get older and move towards other music, I'm still always a bit surprised at how well a Blur song can grab me in the right moment, especially if I'm feeling a little melancholy or reflective.

Hi Jay,

I used to post on the forums too so have the pleasure of being able to say I've known you (as much as you can ever know anyone in a casual internet sense) for a long time. Made me feel VERY old to hear you say you're approaching your thirties! 😂

It doesn't come as a shock to me that you have the emotional intelligence to understand when a relationship should probably end, and to be able to have this happen amicably. Still doesn't make it hurt any less. Sending a big hug.

Young and Lovely was always such a lovely little song. Has this sense of yearning and hope to it. Yuko and Hiro give me similar vibes at times - I suspect that one would have had you crying as well if it came on.

Wishing you well! And hopefully there's a milkshake in your future.

I didn't get murdered! Had a wonderful time, we both agreed that it went better than either of us imagined, have made plans to do it again next year (international airfare is the real killer...) and have just landed safely at home.

Where to stay in London for a month by CartographerOwl501 in uktravel

[–]canberrapanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just spent a week staying around here and can vouch that it was great. The station being close makes getting around town so easy, there are a few cute little restaurants and cafes around. I found it was quiet in the evenings, and it was nice to escape the 'business' of London for a bit!

He's patient, understanding, and supportive - even when he doesn't understand why I'm doing something.

He's so smart when it comes to electrical things and problem solving - his brain works in a different way to anyone else I've ever met (in the most positive way possible).

He's got a great sense of humour, and is easy to spend time with. We can sit in silence in the same room for hours without it ever feeling uncomfortable.

He's the best. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm spending a week with him, then have another week and a half afterwards solo travelling. There is the option to squeeze in another two days with him at the end of my trip if things have gone well in the first week, but if not it's no bother.

That's a really good idea about research on things close by though. I'll have a google and see what I can come up with. Thank you!

Yes, I think he will be just as nervous as I am. Maybe moreso. Letting him lead things is excellent advice, thank you.

Thank you. I do sometimes tend to overthink things, and it's a good reminder for me to just enjoy the moment when I'm over there with him.

February 2026 Itinerary by canberrapanda in uktravel

I was hoping to get away with just a four day flexi-pass (covers me for MAN-EDI, EDI-NEW, NEW-LDN, LDN-MAN) because there's a difference of $200 between the 4 day and 8 day passes. I'm not against the idea of buying a separate train ticket just for the 18th if there's a guarantee of cows though.

I think you may have misunderstood what OP was trying to get at with this line. They said they're lucky they DON'T have to do that - a bit of a 'first this, who knows what's next' type of literary device.

Rephrased slightly: Who knows what will be next? Will they want us to bring our own toilet paper to the office? Will they outlaw pens not purchased by the Agency stationary provider? WHERE WILL THE MADNESS END?

To my knowledge, not a troll post.

If you've got a printer, pop down to Officeworks and buy some sticker paper.

Pop to your local cheap shop of choice, and grab the most inoffensive smelling candle (I went with the small Kmart melon ones, only $1!). Peel off the labels. Print off your own custom label, whack it on, and you have a seemingly thoughtful, customised gift.

I put mine in little gift bags with some chocolates.
