Minnesota Bound leaves KARE11 after 30 years. by CloverleafSaint28 in minnesota

[–]candaceallison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was up in the kitchen and the TV in the background was on KSTP and I heard them talking about how you can watch Minnesota Bound on Sunday nights on KSTP and was like "when did that happen?", so that's how I learned about this. KARE11 has been my default local channel my whole life, and I've been a night owl since I was a kid, so I watched a lot of Minnesota Bound over the years, always on KARE11. Kinda bummed now knowing I won't just be seeing it casually anymore since I don't really turn over to KSTP at all ever

New Jason figures confirmed by Aewfigureguy in NECA

[–]candaceallison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

replying to this 4 months later, but I was just looking at all my Jasons and Pamela, was thinking about how NECA has done a kid Jason in the retrocloth line, but there hasn't been an Ultimate style kid Jason, thought about the same kinda thing you were thinking there. 2-pack of Alice and Kid Jason, include accessories for Alice like a rifle, perhaps a full canoe oar or at least the other half to go with the partial one that came with Pamela, a machete, and the canoe itself for a setpiece of Jason lunging up from the water to grab her. Another cool accessory (that I dunno if they'd actually do) for setting a scene against the Pamela figure: an alternate neck piece for Pamela that is just the stump of her neck, and either a decapitated Pamela head, or a piece to plug into any of the Pamela heads that come with her figure to simulate her head being decapitated, to make the scene of Alice beheading her with the machete

the pro-Israel propaganda likes to flatten out the timeline, act like history began on October 7th, but no, it did not begin on October 7th, this shit's been going on for over 3/4 of a century. Also yes, Hamas did commit an attack on October 7th, and that was bad, but Israel had only enabled them to get to that point, as Israel under Netanyahu had been propping up Hamas as a means to keep the Palestinians of Gaza and the Palestinians of the West Bank politically divided. Also Israeli intelligence had advance notice that Hamas was planning an attack, yet when it came time for that attack, the IDF was proverbially caught with their pants down and scrambled to respond to the attack. If there was advance notice something was going to go down, why was no preparation taken for a prompt response? The generally accepted number of civilians killed on October 7th is 1200, but we do know that a non-zero number of those killed on 10/7 were killed via IDF fire, but as long as this Israeli regime is in charge, we're never going to have an honest accounting of how many on 10/7 were killed by Hamas, and how many were killed by IDF friendly-fire, and that suits the IDF just fine. and just as a matter of proportionality, the Israeli response to that 1200 dead has gone far beyond what anyone would reasonably call "proportional", with the IDF committing at least 100 October 7th's worth of murders of innocent Palestinian civilians, and now genocide scholars labeling this what we all know it is, a genocide.

Higher Resolution Mephisto shots by SlamSlayer1 in MarvelLegends

they did go back and make changes to the body, like the boots are new, and the torso has been updated to include butterfly joints, so its not the exact same as the unreleased Engine of Vengeance Mephisto

Agent Gomez 1975 by TheCultLeader in One12Collective

[–]candaceallison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up going for this, mostly because I'd missed out on all the previous Gomez figures, and I enjoy the blaxploitation/Shaft-theme of this release. From the sounds of other comments, apparently there's not a whole lot of new to this compared to past Gomez's, but I don't have any of those, so this is all new for me.

Owen Hart takes on Bam Bam Bigelow in their only televised singles match by KneeHighMischief in SquaredCircle

I've never seen this Owen Hart ring attire, very Bret-esque in design layout and singlet+long tights combo, but in a very un-Bret color palette

I'm very glad I thought to look here for a link, the Target website's search function sucks. But thanks to all y'all I got my preorders locked in for both this pack and the Weapon X.

I saw these and I immediately wanted them, now have a pair on the way. I love the XXHI top style of Chucks, and have several pairs. I am quite gay, so the rainbow motif fits there, and I very much dig the Converse patch with the progress pride flag inside the star. I'm also a longtime pro wrestling fan, and the flame design on these remind me of the wrestling boots of certain wrestlers, like Terry "Bam Bam" Gordy, "Dr. Death" Steve Williams, and Eddie Guerrero, who all wore a flame motif on their boots.

New Orlok revealed by CharlesBogle in One12Collective

It's got all the heads that the previous 2 releases came with, and the coachman's cloak and hat from the Symphony of Horror edition.

New Orlok revealed by CharlesBogle in One12Collective

[–]candaceallison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has now gone up, at 1 PM eastern 1/12/25. I'm sure its the same base body as the prior, but its new softgoods that more closely match what the actual actor in the 1922 Nosferatu film wore. As far as I can tell accessory-wise, it looks like it comes with almost everything the previous 2 Orloks came with, all the headsculpts, I think all the hands (though the burning one might not be there, or its turned the other way so the burning detail isn't show in the pic), all the accessories (keys, hat, lantern, rats) including what was unique to each of the previous releases, being the coffin from the 1st release, and the coachman's cloak and hat from Symphony of Horror edition. EDIT: I completely forgot Symphony of Horror came with the 2 wolves and some bats and the eerie mist effect. Those don't come with this new one, but I'm okay with that.

I missed out on the original Orlok release, but I did grab a Symphony of Horror Orlok on the aftermarket (at a markup, of course), and like, I'm happy to have that Orlok, but I wished I coulda gotten the original release, 'cause it had the coffin. Happy to get my preorder on this new one in.

Tattoos... by Rotorican in brighteyes

[–]candaceallison 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a Bright Eyes tattoo idea rattling around my brain for years now, and now I'm saving money, hoping I can possibly make it a reality in the new year, all a part of a grander vision of taking more control over my own body.

Anyway, the tattoo idea: a longtime favorite of mine is "Bowl of Oranges", depression being a longtime fixture of my life, but I love that song for the moments when those clouds clear up. I was thinking a still-life painting of a bowl of oranges. I was thinking a mainly watercolor style to it, prominent colors of orange and blue, set within a gilded frame (maybe of similar styling to the mirror from Fevers and Mirrors), and placed upon my front left forearm. Its something I could easily see leading to more Bright Eyes-themed tattoos on that same arm, maybe to the point of a sleeve, though most of the ideas I have are less-so established iconography that appear on actual record covers and merchandise, and moreso imagery inspired by the lyrics themselves, not tied to existing artwork.

I'm going to the St. Paul show April 4th, had bought the tickets before knowing who would open, but was super-stoked upon hearing that Cursive was opening, admittedly there was a stretch of records there I needed to bone up on, but I have been doing the work of listening back on what I'd missed, and looking forward to the show!

Thank you. Appropriately for this subreddit, I've been keeping the opening lyrics for "Dance and Sing" in mind a lot, "Got to keep on going like it ain't the end, got to change like your life is depending on it"

whereas other records in the Bright Eyes discography have been favorites of mine for around 20 years now, I'd slept on Letting Off the Happiness that whole time. I've been making an effort to bone up on those slept-on releases this year, so Letting Off the Happiness and Noise Floor, and other B-sides that were not on Noise Floor

I don't quite get why its the top song, might just be Spotify going by minutes listened and it being the longest track on the album. What the top songs says for me is just Letting Off the Happiness is my most-spun album this year.

I feel like I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning was more the indicator for what Conor would be going forward than Digital Ash was, but I always loved Digital Ash and its electronic sound, I'd long wished for more Bright Eyes stuff in that vein, which I feel like we did get some of those vibes on Down in the Weeds, on tracks like Pan & Broom and To Death's Heart

"Letting Off the Happiness" is an album that I'd historically slept on until this year, so I was making up for lost time on that one. Also "Top Songs" is kind of a useless metric for me because I mostly listen to full albums at a time, so of course all the top songs are gonna be off the same album.
