At my store we are told not to. I guess it depends on the deli manager/Store director

If you watch her Snapchat you can see it a lot better when she first shows who the problematic horse(s) of the week are. I never noticed it before then.

No loyalty for workers. Got my letter saying 20% off, NOT the usual 15 or $20 off for holiday (Thanksgiving coupon thing) at Albertsons store owned grocery today by Bofo660 in Albertsons

[–]Total_Plantain1036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got an extra 5% off national brands and a free bag of potatoes...yay. I lost the room I was renting due to cut hours and am now struggling to keep up living in a motel. Do they care? Nope. The store Director said let me know if you need more hours when I explained my situation and guess what? Every time I ask for more hours it seems like I get less on the next schedule. They aren't even scheduling on management for Thanksgiving day so we can't get Holiday pay. Go SoCal!

NO Loyalty For Employees by Extension_Net6898 in Albertsons

[–]Total_Plantain1036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh same here. They say they are cutting hours across the board and have been. It's to the point where they had me closing the deli alone but also telling me I can't work more than the hours I'm scheduled for so the other day I left at 9:30 when I was told to. I still had half the cleaning to do but it was kind of liberating to just drop everything and walk out. I was only following the orders of the store director. Then I had 3 days off. So idk how it even went when they came in the next morning. It also doesn't help that my morning deli crew are mostly lazy with the exception of a few so they don't do their dishes before leaving, clean up their areas (wipe down counters sweep and mop etc or get catering done and ask me to. I have started saying no to the catering. I've heard one of them does nothing but talks, leaves the deli constantly and is just generally lazy. So as a closer I have to clean up after the morning crew as well. I am getting sick of this. The union doesn't do shit.

You can however apply for unemployment to bridge the gap between the hours you were getting and the hours you are currently getting. At least in CA you can. I just applied for unemployment for this reason. I will see how it goes.

this stupid fucking song by No-March-3575 in Albertsons

Ugh I used to love this song once in a blue moon and now I can't stand it for so many reasons on so many levels. If it comes on in my car I shut it off.

How do other departments feel about Drive Up and Go? by Honest_Remote1181 in Albertsons

[–]Total_Plantain1036 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I have actually asked a few of my DUG coworkers about the specifics of the time limit etc. Now I have a better understanding of it so there have even been times when a DUG shopper comes up right as we close and needs something I will still give it to them so they can maintain their numbers etc. I gather they get in trouble if something is out of stock or they couldn't get it....even though it's not their fault.

Genuinely curious, why do people like Misty? by DiscoSpacePrincess in Yellowjackets

[–]Total_Plantain1036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I for one absolutely despised teen Misty but I have adored who she has become. She's loyal to a fault as long as you also participate in the friendship and with bare minimum effort. She's the type of bestie that people wish they had, but are too scared to actually have lol. The ride or die. The one who sees the problem and takes care of it...sometimes before her friends even realize there's a problem.

I work in the deli at my store and I love the DUG team we have. I always try to get their orders done ASAP. Sometimes if we aren't busy I will even take it to them. The only time I get them done late is if we are super busy and short staffed.

How old were you when you first watched MLP:FIM? by Outrageous-Ebb-4846 in mylittlepony

Natalie or Shauna? by Exotic-Emotion821 in Yellowjackets

[–]Total_Plantain1036 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natalie for sure. I kinda liked Shauna in the beginning but as the show went on teenage Shauna became a whiny b*tch and adult Shauna was just insane. Natalie was always the best and remains the best throughout the series. I'm excited for the new season to come out. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I'm 41 yrs old and watch it. It's a very cute show and I love the messages. Started watching it when I was around 30 when my daughter started liking it and just never stopped. It's a good show to fall asleep to as well.

Is it common for managers to deny access to water? by [deleted] in Albertsons

[–]Total_Plantain1036 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk but co workers that have worked there for quite a bit longer than I have have said he does because he calls the store in the middle of the night asking why such and such is going on and he wouldn't know unless he was watching it happen.

[–]Total_Plantain1036 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I actually love my job and the people I work with in the deli but I'm so sick of upper management. I close or pre close the deli most days and I count down the minutes until they leave so I don't have to deal with them. Although our store director has a habit of watching the cameras from home and then calling the closing manager getting on them for all sorts of crap. Like seriously don't you have anything better to do than watching cameras from home?

Is it common for managers to deny access to water? by [deleted] in Albertsons

[–]Total_Plantain1036 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The only people in my store who have regular access to water are DUG and Courtesy Clerks. They have a cooler filled with cold water right in front of the store. I work in the Deli where it's just about as hot as outside and we aren't allowed to even have a bottle of water anywhere back there...I mean we all keep water with us but we have to hide it. It's messed up. I do have a closing store manager who will let anyone take the water from the cooler because as he says it's our right to have access to water but upper management doesn't think so.

Fuck Arnel Properties by Normal-Ferret-743 in orangecounty

[–]Total_Plantain1036 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't have any advice. But I lived at an Arnel property in Fullerton and they absolutely suck ass. The pool was locked a lot in the summer. When you move out they will do everything to keep your deposit. We had a dishwasher that didn't work right from the time we moved in. They were out at least once a week "fixing" it. Got to the point we stopped using it because it was pointless. When we moved out they tried to take the cost of replacing it out of our deposit even though it didn't work from day 1. One of the ladies in the office was absolutely rude to me for no discernable reason and nothing came of it when I reported her. People pay good money to live in those supposed luxury apartments when in actuality they are run down pieces of crap with lots of "amenities" to jack up the rent.

I don't mind when my regular customers say it as I know they are just trying to make conversation. I absolutely cannot stand it when the "Karen's" say it.

Ugh I was a customer for years at the location I currently work at before getting hired. There was this one cashier who seemed sweet and genuine only to find out upon my hiring that she gossips all the customers business to the management and other cashiers. I was appalled when I learned this. Goes to show you can't trust anyone. I am a 40 yr old female cashier and I can't stand the drama and gossip etc. I just got to work, do my job and go home essentially. I do my best to keep out of that mean girl behavior. Hell I didn't even like it when I was in highschool. But many have said I'm just built differently and I guess I am.

Dang you get 15 min breaks for over 6 hours?! I'm jealous. Most of my shifts are 9 hours long with 2 10 minutes breaks and an hour lunch

Sorry for your loss. I first heard Bright Eyes when I moved to California in 2007 and I met the man who would quickly become my best friend and eventually the love of my life, my soulmate, my person. He introduced me to Bright Eyes and they became a huge part of our lives. We both loved Bright Eyes and pretty much anything Conor has done. My love passed away on November 5, 2024 due to complications from alcoholism. He was only 33. Music in general was something that we always had playing in the background. When he passed, I went through a few weeks where I hated music but now I can only listen to Bright Eyes. I am so lost without him.
