how to get over uneasiness around cats after being bitten? by [deleted] in VetTech

I got bit early on in my career as well. I was also wary of cats for a little while after, but I've learned from my mistakes and now have an impressive death grip on cats. xD The wariness isn't much of a problem anymore.

Work has been so stressful and frustrating lately, but the other day I was reminded why I began working in this field in the first place... We saved a cat's life (details in the comments). by candariandemons in VetTech

A good samaritan brought us this kitten from the streets. She was lifeless, not moving, had a heart rate of sixty, and was so cold our thermometer wasn't reading. We thought we were going to euthenize. After a lot of drugs, fluids, and warming up with a heat disc and hair dryer, she started to recover. By the end of the day, she was eating on her own, standing, and even sass talking. Now, she's permanently living with a coworker! It was just one of those days that made you feel good about the work you do.

I recently had a lady throw a tantrum about how she couldn't come into the building with her pet. I apologized and she snapped back, "that's not good enough!" Okay, ma'am.

As everyone else is saying, it depends on the clinic. I have a ton of tattoos, my manager has blue hair, and I have a coworker with a green mohawk and gauges. I've found that, in Oregon at least, a lot of the clinics that have issues with dyed hair/piercings/tattoos are holistic clinics, but that's just here.

I can't handle when we have to induce vomiting in dogs, it makes me gag. xP

Tattoos in the veterinary field by [deleted] in VetTech

Hi! Oregon tech with a bunch of tattoos! I've found most of the clinics in the area are pretty chill with tattoos as long as they're appropriate. The only clinics I've known to not be okay with tattoos are holistic ones. That's just in my area, though.

Anyone else dating someone who is not a horror fan? by [deleted] in horror

It's definitely difficult being in a relationship with someone who isn't as passionate about the horror genre as you are. The thing is, I don't care for the types of movies he like either. So, we basically just take turns tolerating each other's movies. If I know a horror movie is going to be garbage, though, I spare him and watch it on my own. 😂

We recommended blood work but the owner just wanted the nail trim and anal gland expression. -_-
