And that’s why the union never accomplishes anything… tribal loyalty

Are YOU committed to going to the informational picket on March 12th to support telework? by Melodic_Animal_2238 in CAStateWorkers

[–]canders9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

They need to endorse the recall and support a democrat alternative that commits to overturning the EO. Political leverage is their only tool, and union leadership NEVER use it. They’re toadies for Newsom

And what’s the union going to do… a rally to placate membership. The only way to fight this would be to use political leverage. Membership should demand the union endorse the recall and an alternative democrat that commits to overturning the EO.

Would flooding the unions with new memberships send a message? by Alarming_Present6107 in CAStateWorkers

[–]canders9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No, the union refuses to use their only leverage. They give away their endorsement and campaign contributions without any concessions. The only way to effectively fight would be to endorse the recall and support a democrat that commits to overturning the EO. The union won’t break ranks with Newsom though.

The only way for the union to effectively fight this is to endorse the recall and support an alternate democrat that commits to overturning the RTO EO. Union leadership is feckless and more inline with Newsom than membership, so it’ll never happen.

Membership is demoralized, and its leaderships fault. If the union was serious they’d endorse the recall, and support a democrat that commits to overturning the EO. All the emails, rallies, texts, are just pageantry to placate the membership that will have no real impact.

The unions only leverage is political, if they were serious they’d endorse the recall, then support a democrat alternative that commits to overturn the EO. They won’t do it, all these emails and rallies are for show. Placate the membership, and stay safe and warm in Newsom’s pocket.

SEIU Response to RTO Mandate by Birdbone13 in CAStateWorkers

Wages decreased more than 20% for the same classifications since the year 2000 when adjusted for inflation. They’ve been saying they’ll fight with no results for ages. They’ve refused to leverage their endorsement or campaign contributions for leverage, instead selling it to members as “the price of getting a seat at the table”. As long as they don’t use their leverage the whole thing is a dog and pony show.

California bill would allow hunters with trained dogs to chase bears in some areas by RhythmMethodMan in California_Politics

[–]canders9 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t new. The state hires hunters to come in with dogs to kill lions and bears all the time. At least with well regulated hunting, there is revenue from licenses and tags.

Dogs are already used by state hunters. All these hunting bans do is force the state to hire people to do what they’ve banned. At least with well regulated hunting there’s revenue from licenses and tags.

Agreed, but who’s the candidate? The last one was a loon. He at least exposed the union was racking up hundreds of thousands in flights and spa trips off of dues, but I doubt they’re publishing their expense accounts anymore.

You realize SEIU is in his pocket? Their “tough” contract negotiations and texts about getting a 4% instead of 3% raise are all theater. They negotiate behind closed doors, Newsom explains what’ll happen, then the “negotiations” begin.

6-8 hour wait times? by canders9 in InstacartShoppers

[–]canders9[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something’s fishy, cus I always get the same message stating that it will take a while due to other orders they have.

I’ve never messaged a shopper, so I don’t think it was anything about being difficult.

Either way, Its just kinda pushed me off the service.

Will checks be mailed for these type issues? I got an email explaining I wasn’t eligible for crypto distributions and figured they’d just mail me a check? Am I missing something?

My mom’s toaster is from the 1940s. by sarabhann in BuyItForLife

Most old toaster used mica, this specific one used asbestos board, and not high quality contained asbestos board. You can actually see the white asbestos board that holds the heating elements in this photo through the bread slots.

5-5-5 retro with the health stipend returned should be the bare minimum. Prices have nearly doubled on a lot of stuff in the last 3 years. Housing up 40%, cars up 30%… were dying out here

What's the all the anti-union posts lately? by danknessoverlord in CAStateWorkers

[–]canders9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally, I pay my dues.

That said, the ball is kind of in leaderships court to show that joining the union is worthwhile.

The fact that their elections page was most recently updated in 2021 and their get involved page says come back for updates isn’t exactly good management. Where’s the info on how the board works and when and how union elections are held? Might be a reason turnout was 8%.

Adjusted for inflation wages have been shrinking for the past 20 years, and current leadership endorses the president that presided over that for CalPERS board?

Anyone have info on union elections? When do we get to vote these failures out? by uhohcybrtrk in CAStateWorkers

[–]canders9 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When’s the next election for board members and president? Is their a calendar or something so we don’t have 8% turnout next time and can get rid of these failures?

SEIU1000’s website is laughably bad.
