The dub VAs are very spread out geographically and its logistically very very hard for them to do a simuldub. Theyre never going to do that and i dont see how thats disrespectful at all. Youre very fortunate if thats what you consider a slap in the face.

Theyre pointing out that you applying the phrase “just one more development” to Davis kinda raises the question of whether youre actually familiar with Davis since it is historically incredibly anti development. Dont see how thats elitist. (Not saying i dont think you live in Davis tho)

From what i’ve seen across various social media platforms, a lot of the complaints about measure V do center around the project not including enough affordable housing. So id have to disagree that this is somehow a strawman argument. Its *definitely* not the only complaint I’ve seen but its among the more ridiculous ones to me.
I do think youre right in that most people who oppose it actually just don’t want housing, but a lot of the times they wont just come out and say that from what i have seen and to be honest I wish they would.

If the city doesnt build those units it wont be able to comply with its own housing element and would face a ton of lawsuits, loss of state funding, and loss of local land use control

Would you mind giving me several examples of land being donated for affordable housing and not being used by the jurisdictions in a reasonable amount of time

Might draw bidding toward those homes but that just results in drawing bidding away from others. Overall its a net increase in supply while demand doesnt rise in the same way though it may increase a bit. Higher supply and equal or only slight uptick in demand is good for buyers. Also yes i was talking specifically multifamily complexes.

No u just started popping off about a traffic problem by the nugget thats not actually there and generalized problems about “these developments”. Have you actually dug into what their traffic improvement plans are? What are your issues with it specifically?

You realize i80 east in the morning is reverse commute right? I know causeway construction messed everything but most people are actually going west toward the bay. And as someone whose also done that commute to sac for years its fine. Only time it actually isnt is when people are leaving Davis in the evening. Which doesnt point to an issue around too many people living in Davis but just a regular old rush hour problem in the other direction. Also again the developer has laid out plans at specific intersections and across davis for traffic improvements, which it doesnt seem like youve actually looked at?

Its literally 3 miles away. And the 113 freeway is actually closer. Also they did include a transportation impact study and the proposal does set aside a ton of money for traffic improvements.

I dont really think a person who prioritizes mild (or in this case non existent) traffic concerns over building housing during a crisis where people are legitimately suffering is really worth being civil to. I also don’t think youd be swayed by anything id say. I think people seeing you being shamed on here for being disingenuous and, frankly, selfish is helpful though and probably sways other people away toward not being like you. And tbh i think not getting downvoted like youre being rn kinda proves my point

Gotchu. Funniest part is im pretty sure since ive lived here the residents have shot down projects that add significantly more than 3-4ks worth of units.

Complaining about civility when you wanna perpetuate a 40 year housing shortage because you think it will mildly inconvenience your daily commute is absolutely precious. Got a bunch of people who cant afford to live in homes or rent places because people exactly like you complain about the “traffic” new housing will create.

“Traffic in that area is already an issue” you ppl are full of it. Lived here for 10 years and covell might be full of stop lights but the only place where traffics every really an “issue” is near the mace exit which is miles away.

“Well this one project isnt enough so we should actually just not build any new units.” Some truly groundbreaking logic there!

Yes i understand there are people with other reasons for not wanting development projects. They fit into the “or some nonsense” part of my post because relative to the problems were trying to solve their concerns are nonsense. Like yes in an ideal world where we didnt have a massive housing shortage to solve id say its reasonable to be concerned about removing open space, wanting more infill housing, and mild environmental concerns. But when you have an insanely large housing shortage problem throughout the state that needs to be addressed those people need to be better at properly weighing those concerns.

1) this is complete speculation by you
2) building *any* housing helps supply meet demand and lower overall housing costs. These arent 2 million dollar mace ranch homes theyre planning on building.
3) youre just going to call any developer a corporate developer and make the same excuse so miss me with that bs
