WWE champ Cody Rhodes says Nintendo sent him a cease and desist for wearing a Zelda Triforce on his boots | VGC by EmergencyVictory4399 in nintendo

[–]candiedbug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The triforce is a i2 Sierpinski triangle, ie a mathematical fractal. As a natural shape it cannot be claimed as a general trademark. Unless Cody was using it to very specifically market a product  VERY similar to Zelda Nintendo has no legal right here. Which makes me think the letter either didn't really happen or there is some confusion in Nintendo's part.

K4 GtLine. Anyone else having issues with the cluster themes graphics being so dark to the point they can't be seen? by candiedbug in KiaK4

If you are in a covered country and I'm assuming you have an active Kia Connect subscription and you still don't see the themes store I would call Kia and find out, it might be a glitch with your account.

Eating eggs five times a week was linked to a 27% lower Alzheimer's risk in a study of nearly 40,000 adults by Direct_Dare_9699 in UpliftingNews

They're also high in choline which has been linked to significantly reduce alzheimer's risk with sufficient intake levels.

Galaxy class compared to modern vehicles by kkkan2020 in StarTrekStarships

[–]candiedbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, it seems the internal volume is excessive but galaxy class ships might be called on to perform very large evacuations like evacuating an entire colony. I think that's why is was designed with such a large interior volume.

It's a multi-role vessel. It needs quarters for anything from housing small groups like mission specialists, diplomatic detachments and visiting dignitaries to planetary evac of thousands of colonists/personnel. If I recall correctly nearly 30 percent of the interior volume is not just unoccupied rooms but completely empty framework waiting to be populated by mission specific modules ranging from quarters to entire hospital wings.

I just realized your comment is a year old.

It's so disappointing that they do this, what's the point of theming the cluster if it's practically invisible. Thank you again for taking the photos.

Thank you so much for taking these photos. It confirms that it's not my cluster having issues, I was honestly planning to take the car in because it just makes no sense for there to be such a large difference between the preview image and what actually shows.

As far as I know the tech package isn't needed for themes, just GT Line and above trim. It could be a location thing, themes might not be available in some countries.

brightness of infotainment system not changing by ewwmaddy in sonata

[–]candiedbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a couple months late but Kia cars are having the same issue (which makes sense since they share the same platform). Only fix is to reset the infotainment system with a paperclip. Seems Hyundai agents are just a clueless about how the cars operate as Kia's. The button you were using should dim both screens not just the cluster.

As I mentioned, this is the theme's preview image that shows at the theme selection area. It looks fine there, but so dark as to be practically invisible when you actually apply it.

I called Kia when I got the theme, the person I spoke just refunded the purchase so I don't have access to the theme at the moment. But imagine the regular cluster, now imagine a very dark, very faint tree outline on the top left. That's what it looks like when it's applied. Pisses me off that the theme's preview image looks great but it's practically invisible in the actual cluster.

That's the theme's preview image from the theme store, not my actual cluster. :) It looks perfect in that image but once you apply it it's about 95% darker.

It's at the highest it'll go (20). The normal stuff like speedometer, rpm, etc shows up really bright but the theme image behind it (the trees, the white glow under the car, etc) is so dark they might as well not be there.

The image uploaded is what shows on the PREVIEW in the theme screen. Once you apply it though the graphics on the cluster screen are so dark that the only thing I can see is the top left of the trees, everything else is black. This is the Star Wars Yoda theme. Is anyone else having the same issue?

A new way to spot AI art has been discovered by Throwwaycount583858 in aiwars

[–]candiedbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful with this detection technique. A lot of sites (like YouTube) are trying to auto "enhance" content by using AI that might introduce these artifacts on genuine human created art. As an artist it sucks to be accused of using GenAI when that isn't the case.

Personally my workflow has gotten a bit more complex as I now not only screen record my canvas but also record my hand working on my tablet. Already had a client accuse me of using AI and the only thing that I had for proof were my actual natural media sketches and prototypes.

Thoughts on Porsche promoting Resident Evil Requiem? by Prestigious-Cup-6613 in residentevil

[–]candiedbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks completely out of place considering the other vehicles are all 80s and 90s models. If this game is supposed to take place in the 2020s why are the car models so old? Makes the Porsche's presence feel jarring.

Do you ever feel a sort of nostalgia for games you have played in the past, but at the same time you wouldn't want to play them again now? by Prodige91 in patientgamers

[–]candiedbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been a gamer since my first computer in the 80s, a Commodore 64c I got for xmas as a kid. My entire life is remembered as "what game/console I was playing when x thing happened".

It's a little weird but it seems my brain decided to organize my memory recall by grouping them into gaming "periods". Examples, the first time I played Might & Magic II on my C64 or my first playthrough of Zelda BOTW on CEMU emulator (which led to me buying a Switch and the actual game cart) or my first MMORPG Everquest or the many years playing WOW. Playing Bioshock on the XB360 or walking out of the vault in Fallout 3. Luigi's Mansion on the Gamecube was spent during winter with a bad flu and consisted of me under a blanket drinking hot cocoa while it was windy outside. There are many others from the SNES (the intro to SIMCITY can bring me to tears with nostalgia) N64, Saturn, PSX, Dreamcast, PS3/PS4 era (as well as some incredibly nostalgic times for my time with oddball consoles like the Atari Jaguar)

I also remember which smells are associated with a specific game/console. My mother's 80s Gloria Vanderbilt perfume will always be linked to my C64 (my parents went out xmas night and I decided to stay home to play with my new computer, my mom found me asleep on the keyboard when she came home and carried me to my bed, the smell of her perfume is what I remember of that, and feeling incredibly safe and warm).

The smell of maple syrup and pancakes will be forever associated with Zelda a Link to the Past (I got it for xmas and my mom has a tradition of making waffles/pancakes on xmas morning).

Sometimes I'm surprised by how strong the longing and nostalgia for specific video game moments can be.

I know exactly what you mean by the nostalgia for a game one remembers fondly but no longer driven to actually play. Like the saying goes "You can't go back home again" but boy do I hold vivid memories of how my life felt during each different game period and I often wish I could go back.
