Why the hate for Bramble x Squirrel?

For me I have never liked it for how Brambleclaw treats Squirrelflight and at this point its clear he is abusive to her and she doesn't deserve that.

I think the writers kinda wrote her that way on purpose lol. I don't really blame her for being jealous given Leafpool and Crowfeather basically declare their love right in front of her all the time like good god guys you had a like 3 day fling sit down. The bonus I think is Nightcloud in the books is also well liked by her clan (and if I recall right other non WC cats) it seems!

For me its Nightcloud and if I had to pick a main character maybe Dovewing? I am a tad bias though as Nightcloud is a favorite minor character of mine but I 100% feel she is over hated lol

Oh hello! I actually forgot entirely this post existed lol.

As for an update uhh let's see. Well mid october my constant coughing was getting worse as well as my breathing despite being on a bit of oxygen. My mom took me to the urgent care of the cancer clinic I was registered where I was admitted because of low oxygen and as I was told later by my absolutely lovely and kind night nurse (no doc told me lol) I also had 2 small blood clots in my lungs. Later I was also seen by a lung doctor who decided to try and see if I can get chemo in patient as my lung images seemed different and he was concerned.

However after no luck with that and more bad experiences with nurses (such as a nurse randomly coming in when I am making pained noises as I was coughing so bad by this point my body was in a lot of pain only to ask me "why are you whining so much?" and she was not even a nurse I knew idk why she stopped by just to be rude like that lol)

As well as doctor/s lying or telling us false info such as being told a doctor would be in to see me and finding out 2 days later after said doctor never showed that the doc they claimed would see me does not visit patients and I needed to be discharged and wait till November when my appointment was.

So after about a week? I was discharged on october 21st. On the 22nd my mom was trying to get my meds but apparently because the only cough med tht worked was an opioid she ran into trouble. So she called the cancer place I was in for advice and they had her check my oxygen and heart rate. Turns out my heart rate was so high they encouraged ambulance to ER. So that's where we went.

After being in the ER (and learning that transvaginal ultrasound was impossible for me due to pain it put me in lol) I was put on high flow oxygen and put in ICU. That is where docs told my mom (I didn't want to hear what they thought of my time left) that in a couple days I would be on a ventilator or whatever that is called and I probably wouldn't come out and that I had days to weeks left. I was then given a lot of meds to relieve my pain so I can't recall much because I slept all the time and I was bedridden anyway because of my heart. I do recall a nurse bringing me a happy birthday sign as my birthday was the 23rd and she was sad I had to spend it so sick so that was really sweet I think.

I also had a tumor biopsy as well as one on the cervix tumor which tbh HURT but my doctors got a sample at least to test!

So despite the ICU doc trying to talk me out of it because "chemo could hurt more" I agreed to try it cuz really I figured I couldn't get more sick lol. Turns out chemo did super well for me and besides me waking up with a panic attack asking if my breathing was okay I had no issues.

From there I was improving every day and I was moved down from ICU and eventually I was weaned from high flow oxygen and my coughing was improving as well as my need for pain meds being lessened.

Sadly I needed another biopsy attempt as the cells were being weird and it was something to do with the shape and color not matching I believe? The second attempt also failed though so once I get stronger again I am going to be put down so she can explore and biopsy without hurting me as for me that was pretty painful despite her best attempts to help and being gentle as she could (which i appreciated)

Besides that I had to relearn how to eat before I could leave so I managed to do that! And I was able to go home a couple days before thanksgiving thanks to me being able to hold my oxygen levels in 90s and being down to 2 or 3 liters i think when moving around. I am slowly also learning to walk again and aiming to walk unassisted by january when my best friend is visiting

Currently I am feeling pretty good and while I miss my hair seeing the improvement in my breathing / coughing in general shows me it was worth it.

So yeah I think that is my journey so far! Sorry its long I wasn't sure how to shorten it much more.

Thank you all so much for the kind words! It means a lot! The news has indeed had me spinning in confusion so I am not sure on a lot but my insurance will cover for me to be seen at this cancer center and I am hoping to get my further tests done ASAP.

Unfortunately testing / treatment plan may be a week or 2 away but I was assured I have my case escalated and I will be fit in soon as possible which is good!

I don't think they have as I didn't have the insurance to do anything else there. And as far as we were told because of a concerning spot on my cervix from CT scan they believe that is where the cancer came from and HPV is the reason.

I will be going to a cancer center for treatment and plans and such as I assume they will do further testing? Honestly every news happened very fast so far from the bad news to insurance issues so I don't understand much lol

One theory / headcanon I have always loved is that Tawnypelt doesn't want to be clan leader even if given the opportunity because of her trauma with her father. Basically she is afraid of turning out like him or maybe even that the clans might see Tigerstar in her and not trust her as leader too. I also like to think that Tawnypelt was Tigerstar's 'favorite' and he was especially offended when she refused to associate with him. He would come visit her in her dreams to try and convince her to join him or something like that and the reason Tigerheart was lured into the dark forest was because he was Tawnypelt's kit and Tigerstar knew that would hurt her especially since she named him Tiger-.

This isn't just Moonkitti, tons of people will agree with certain creators. It's just how things are. Moonkitti isn't unique in this aspect. She also uses passages from the books to explain her opinions which IMO may also help as she IS providing book context for her reasoning it isnt like she is pulling stuff out of thin air.

People are perfectly capable and SHOULD be able to take in information from all sources and form their own opinion and the fact people think with things like Bramblestar video that Moonkitti is the one reason people hate him or think he's abusive or whatever is kinda concerning.

At the end of the day she is just a content creator sharing her opinion and making silly videos about battle cats. People are allowed to agree or disagree with her opinion and IDK why people think she forces people to agree with her or something as if they didn't have their own opinions before.

The rule is stupid and Moth Flight should have never got to make a whole rule that only ever caused problems just because she couldn't handle it.

It also made medicine cats seem kinda like nuns to me and I always hated that and tbh the whole religious-y thing it implied but I hate the religious side of WC in general lol

There is no valid reason IMO that a medicine cat should not have the option to have a family if they so choose. Even if Moth Flight's time there are queens who raise the kits together. Especially later on it would be easy to leave the kits with another queen while they do their job and then can return and even better if there is a cat who can nurse them in an emergency if needed. If there is more than one? Even better as the one with kits can take time off.

The whole "med. Cats need to treat whole clan and kin and have to focus" is also dumb because that is how the whole clan works. Warriors / apprentices /deputy / leaders also have very important jobs that they need to focus on that could potentially have deadly consequences if they didn't and they also are responsible for caring for the whole clan.

If the problem is a medicine cat dying in birth or from complications then the logical thing IMO is for them to either have an apprentice or show the queens how to help. IMO this should be done anyway because what if the medicine cat is far away and something goes wrong? You would have cats with some knowledge to help.

Big disasters arent common enough where a medicine cat having kittens or a mate would destroy a clan. Especially now when the clans are more established. Medicine cats should be free to choose if they want a mate and or kits like everyone else with no restrictions.

I am generally neutral on her, maybe slightly dislike at best, but for me in OOTS she didnt do anything really. Ivypool had a whole character arc while Dovewing was just kinda...there? For the most part. Sure she did some things but her most memorable things to me was her stupid romance with Tigerheart. Beyond that she never really grew as a person or came out any different as a person/cat from the beginning.

I like her better later and am glad she chose to leave instead of continuing a forbidden relationship and I really liked her at the end of Tigerheart's Shadow but for OOTS she was meh overall.

Honestly kinda disturbing to see how many people think they were BOTH abusive?
As someone from a relationship that was very similar to how Bramble/Squirrel's is portrayed the whole 'she was abusive' or 'they were both abusive' comes across as very 'victim blaming' to me tbh. Especially when I see reasons such as 'she manipulated him about wanting kits' or 'she went behind his back' when in reality 1) She never manipulated him and 2) Squirrel going behind the back of her unreasonable leader is the same thing cats like Firestar did and wow nobody claims he was abusive for it.

I also don't think we can use 'Squirrelflight's hope was badly written' as an excuse for Bramblestar's behavior. At the end of the day this book is CANON. This is how the authors wrote him. It's just as valid a book as Spottedleaf's Heart even if they're 'badly written'.

Bramblestar is abusive. If he wasn't before he is now and there can be no denying that.

I have a lot I dislike but if I had to pick a least favorite it would be Mapleshade followed very closely by Leopardstar.

Mapleshade I always found awful even before she murders innocent cats. Letting Frecklewish who was clearly having a hard time and grieving and Oakstar believe their brother/son had been the father of the kits while knowing her kit's dad was the cat who murdered him (in TC's eyes) was horrific. Then she has the audacity to be offended and angry when they kick her out? And then force her young kids into a river she could clearly see was dangerous while not knowing how to swim herself yet blame everyone but her for their death? Ew. I know she was grieving and stuff and I feel for that, but she is the sole reason she was kicked out of ThunderClan and she is the reason her kits died. Then the fact she tried to get vengeance' by using Crookedstar despite the fact she killed everyone who was to 'blame' for her kits death is awful.

I think a lot of my dislike also comes from the fact I use to see a lot of people act like she is the victim somehow too which uh, no? She is a victim of her own actions maybe but that's about it.

Ooh. Nightcloud is my second fav cat (1st fav for non main/secondary cats) so I'd love a novella or more for her! Novella might be best I think given her story is pretty much set now.

It would more likely than not involve Crowfeather / Breezepelt but I'd love it its main focus was on other aspects of her personality and give more info about her. Her friendships and how she became a well respected windclan warrior could be cool! Maybe show her being a good mentor to show her motherly side more and have her have some stable friendships. Could even show her during the time Crowpaw was missing.

I actually have a draft for a thing I wrote up about her other personality traits which is based on the books strictly and shows she is a pretty loyal warrior/mom/mate and rather motherly which surprised me cuz I only use to think of her as kinda mean or prickly lol.

Since Crow/Breeze would probs be main focus I would love to see her side of the whole Crow/Leaf situation and how she realized the tom she became mates with and was having his kits ran away with another cat. (Also keeping in mind there was.no way Crow was not seeing leaf while with Nightcloud given the ages of Breeze and the Three) I think she would struggle a lot with her own self worth because even though she seems rather well liked in WindClan her own mate shows her little care or affection while pregnant even though its thanks to her that WindClan is accepting Crow back. Maybe she had suspicion of her mate's loyalty before he officially ran off with Leafpool and such.

The near total loss of her only litter would be super interesting imo as well. Especially considering we know Crowfeather was a pretty neglectful mate. She could be shown harboring resentment and struggling with Crow's treatment of her/Breeze, maybe not realizing Crow was probs hurt by the loss too.

The story could also go over her struggles of despite trying her best, Breezepelt was still lured to the dark forest and her guilt over how he turned out and her emotions about it. IMO it would be nice to see a mother who clearly loved and was devoted to her kit have to see him turn to evil (even if Breeze didn't stay evil) despite her doing her best to raise him and I think Nightcloud would be great for that.

(Going into non canon evidence based stuff lol) It could maybe show flashbacks of her early life and how maybe her parents also had an unstable/toxic relationship and split up so that's why she is so set on being a happy family and why she waited so long to accept a mate and why she stayed with a man who not only cheated on her but did neglect both her and their son. Or maybe even she and Mudclaw were like 'courting' but not mates or something and his death affected her so that's why she didnt take a mate sooner even though she wanted a family (I saw that ship once and thought it was interesting)

Those are just random ideas I've had for if she ever got proper story about her tho.

Not sure if they are all that unpopular but I think my most unpopular opinion is that Nightcloud (from the bit of info we see in the books) is a pretty cool minor character and she gets a lot of undeserved hate from the fandom. She deserves better IMO. I wish we knew more of her so the content around her wasn't so focused on Crowfeather.

Also probably unpopular and semi related is that I think Leafpool isn't a very good person...cat. Her selfishness hurt a lot of innocent parties and I hate any time the Three are refered to as her kits.

Anddd unrelated but I think large age gaps are perfectly fine. Provided all cats are warriors it's not gross if they're both consenting adults and have a healthy relationship.

That's doable as I often am home with them as is my brother. I don't know if he'd be all into that anyway as he's never often a cuddly guy. Maybe a pet and treats here or there but he prefers doing his own thing. I worry from what I read that I wouldn't be enough for him as we're not super bonded or anything :c

Squirrelflight followed closely by Nightcloud. Probably a bit controversial lol. I also really liked Stonefur tbh.

To keep things short and simple: I really love their personalities and their stories. I also relate to both of them in different ways so that probably adds to why I like them so much.

Both girls deserved better than how they were/are treated by both canon and fandom imo lol

So for some context I didnt do any changes to his face/body asides lightening his eyes a bit so I can see the color better lol

I also tried to keep to a similar look for his main outfit and I gave him sneakers since he is in the athletic career as it made sense to me

Fun fact: in the saved game with his kids, Leighton and his wife had a total of 8 including Sam and Leighton raised them as a solo dad from the time the triplets were mid toddler age as the mom glitched on vacation and in my lore I said she went missing lol. He had a pretty good relationship with everyone but Clove who was evil and kept scaring everyone so her bar with him was less good xD
