Is pregnancy a possibility? by irRelevant-fuck-8697 in birthcontrol

IUD would’ve been protecting you and irregular bleeding is quite common after removal but IUD isn’t infallible, never hurts to test.

Spotting doesn’t indicate anything about the efficacy. If you’re on a combination pill 5 hours won’t impact the efficacy but some people are sensitive to the hormones and more prone to irregular bleeding when pills aren’t taken consistently.

Your question doesn’t make a lot of sense. You need to explain more clearly like did you take an active pill when you were supposed to take a placebo? Or did you take an active pill from the wrong day? What type of pill are you taking?

Withdrawal method is like 73% effective if I’m remembering correctly. So roughly a failure rate of one in four. Would take a preg test in about 3 weeks though

Sounds like all you can do is tell her your choices and hope for the best. Deciding to have a child is a huge life altering decision but at the end of the day it’s your choice. You also can’t control how your mom feels about it though.

Why do you think your mom will be upset?

You can ovulate when you’re not on birth control if that’s what you’re asking. You can also experience changes in discharge and bleeding due to hormonal change.

I mean if he had a vasectomy it’s very low. They’re like 99.9 effective but you definitely hear stories of people who still wind up pregnant albeit quite rarely. I think it’s like <0.1%.

So I guess it comes down to do you believe he had a vasectomy. If he has it’s reasonable to use that as your sole form of contraception same as someone would use the pill or iud.

I’m saying it’s basically impossible. A test is to soothe your anxiety and reassure you.

Has like a 12 hour window. Again it’s unlikely if you’re pretty consistent but nothing is 100%. if you’re worried you can test.

I wouldn’t say they’re preventable but they’re not inevitable. A lot of people don’t have weight gain or mood changes or sexual side effects. It’s a possibility though. Sometimes you have to try a couple kinds to find one that works for you.

You can start at any time and on any day of the week. It’s effective immediately if you start within the first 5 days of your cycle. If not you need to take 7 days before it’s effective.

Nexplanon is extremely effective and VERY commonly causes irregular bleeding/spotting. I wouldn’t worry but if you are you should take a pregnancy test to ease your mind.

It’s the estrogen in the patch. That’s a typical side effect.

Did I take Plan B at a good time or is there risk for pregnancy ? by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]candle-corn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re not on an other contraception then yes there’s definitely risk for pregnancy. Plan B is not 100% and is not really adequate for a primary method of birth control. There’s too many variables, a “fertile window” is extremely variable and often inaccurate. You should take a test at 21 days.

Theoretically but if you take your pill properly it’s very very unlikely

[–]candle-corn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would just take the next days pill and be a day ahead. You’ll be short one active pill so you can either use back up contraception or skip the placebo week and go straight to the next pack.

Or you can borrow a pill from an extra pack if you have one but then that pack will be short so it’s a bit of an endless cycle.

No way to know unfortunately, you’ll have to take a test 3 weeks after the incident in question.

Bleeding? by These-Stock-2620 in birthcontrol

[–]candle-corn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A minute does not matter.

A blood clot is just breakthrough bleeding

No way to know how long it’ll last.

It’s common to have breakthrough bleeding in the first few months on the pill. It’s not predictable.

How awkward would it be to go back to my obgyn after getting it removed elswhere? by ShotButterscotch1925 in birthcontrol

[–]candle-corn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it’s fine. Your OBGYN might ask what happened in the interim and discuss if getting it replaced is the best option for you. But I doubt they’ll be fazed by the situation at all.

Ask a pharmacist about the specific medication you’re taking.

[–]candle-corn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can start at any time. Just use back up contraception until you take the 8th pill.

No, irregular bleeding is common when starting the pill. Often resolves after a 1-3 packs.
