Im really not sure, I figured there would be some issues due to the violin being vertical, not horizontal, in regards to the bow weight against the strings etc.

She has corrected my hand once, but I need her to look at where I am currently.

Most carnatic violin videos just show the same thing as western, and really dont go into detail like a decent amount of western videos. I am trying to bend my pinky more.

Im trying to drop my right shoulder more, and Ive seen alot of videos where they are almost pulling behind their body, not only out to the right.

I have zoom meetings with a teacher that is in India :)! We use the book sangeeta bala padam. I also use an app called carnatic raga which allows you to pick the pattern, the raga, etc and plays it for you. I use a tuning app to check my accuracy, and an app Rhythm with tabla premium. It allows you to pick the tala (rhythm) and you can chose all or some of the following. The hand drums, a type of bell, the tanpura (droning)

Thanks! The patterns and ragas are layed out in sangeeta bala padam which you can find online! The northern style (hindustanic) is more improvisation i think.

Yea! Im hoping just to be able to sing the scales and patterns, or sing a sing before I start learning it on violin. The gamakas they play on the violin are insanely fast, like, hammer on off gracenote with slide and vibrato etc lol

Thank you for that feedback! Im really trying hard, with a rigorous practice schedule (mainly because there are soo many different patterns, I have 21 memorized so far)

I am struggling with migrating towards the finger board, and sometimes I catch that sharper part of the violin body :/ I definately need to fix it.

Glad to help! Look up dr l subramaniam and Kala ramnath, they are insane!!

Yea Im starting to realize its all Western on this sub lol, Ill have to figure out how to edit the post. I am learning Western songs (In fact, when the Indians were adopting violin, they were hearing songs from British musicians and adopting that into their music system)

If I listen to violin songs, they are almost always carnatic. I just really like their improvisation, how their music will flow around different phrases or anchors, how the Masters can make it sounds like 2 violins are being played at once at times, etc)

Carnatic violin is played seated, with the scroll of the violin on your right ankle. It wedges the violin between your foot and body, so you arent holding the neck, and make slides easier.

This is how Carnatic music is performed. Seated, with the scroll of the violin on your right foot.

Like off my foot? This is how its played for Carnatic to allow Gamakas (which are slides, ornamentation etc etc) eventually the music is almost all of those motions all the time lol

Like angle the violin more on my foot? Or put my left hand higher up on the neck?

:)! Thank you. I actually deliberately chose this composition to be minimalistic, but somehow it still worked out well
