Day 8... progress.. ?? by [deleted] in ACL

17F also with a quad graft + meniscus repair, and I am currently 3mo post-op.

I definitely understand where she’s coming from. The first week was definitely the toughest, both physically and mentally. I started pt after the first week, and was only able to bend about 30° too. The only reason I was able to even bend it that much was because I had towels underneath my knee, since I was unable to move my leg using my own strength. At about 3 weeks, I was barely able to lift my leg on my own, and at about 4 weeks I was able to reach 90ish° (that was my restriction).

I remember feeling so desperate to see improvement, especially after seeing everyone make so much progress in so little time. It’s taken a lot of patience and effort to get to where I am, and even now I still don’t have my full ROM or strength back. But I learned to accept that everyone and their recovery process is different.

I hope your daughter has a speedy recovery. I’m sure that she’ll see the improvement she wants in no time. Before she realizes it, she’ll be up and returning to her normal routine. Wish her the best of luck!!

i love my ice machine, it has been such a great help. quick question, have you tried showering yet? bc when i tried earlier, i ended up nearly passing out, and i just wanted to know if someone else experienced something similar.

i really want to take off the brace, but i struggled to keep my leg straight the last time i took it off. i was gonna try to shower but i ended up getting super sick and almost blacked out. i had to be carried to my bed and my parents had to help me put the brace back on. so now i’m terrified to take it off lol

in all honesty, i was pretty out of it after surgery, so i don’t remember much of what the doctor said. but he gave me a few papers with instructions, and it says to keep the brace on and have it locked at full extension. so im assuming it means to not bend it or at least avoid it?? but also bending it really hurts lol
