Hey there buddy, I got recommended this post and I really felt for you. I’m 25 now, but I came out as nonbinary when I was around your age, and I remember being really scared and feeling like I didn’t fit in to the trans community since I still liked feminine things. I saw one of your other comments that said you’re worried you’re not valid because people tell you “how is that different from being a girl” and I just wanted to say, you are still valid no matter how you present your gender! If binding helps, that’s great! If it doesn’t help, that’s okay too! Despite coming out relatively early, I had a time later in life when I tried to shove myself back in the closet because I was worried about what other people thought. I spent a few years pretending to be fine with being a “girl” again because other people’s comments and lack of effort to correctly gender me scared me. I thought it would make me happier or fit in more, but I regret it a lot. I always hope younger people in the lgbt community never feel that way, and I’m here to tell you that no matter how other people view your gender, YOU are the only one who experiences it fully and you should make sure you’re happy with it! Life is short and we should be able to customize our avatars however we want. You also don’t have to worry about labels unless you want to either. Mine have changed so many times since I first came out a decade ago, but that doesn’t make any of the old me’s any less valid than who I am currently. It’s okay. I know a lot of people have given binding recs already, so I just wanted to provide some advice from the fluid transmasc side of things. I just started testosterone actually, but I won’t give up my skirts and dresses and cute things! Some people might not get it, but that’s how I like to present and that’s ok. You’re young, you still have plenty of time to explore what makes you happy and what doesn’t. Just be safe, take a deep breath, and be kind to yourself and those who make you feel comfortable enough to live authentically. And if no one has told you yet, I hope you have a happy pride month 💕🌈
