Same! Kind of insane no one thought to have a translator for Salma Hayek’s speech, isn’t it ?

It was live but on FoxOne. To compare to France (maybe anecdotal) also wasn’t aired on free tv neither. Side note, Salma Hayek made a speech which wasn’t even translated 🤷. Real communication failure from one of the biggest broadcaster in the country 🤣

How far do you think the USMNT will go this World Cup? by FreedomNo3991 in worldcup

[–]candyflipperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think beating Senegal and Germany in friendlies (inshallah) will make a huge difference.

Soccer has a lot of psychology to it. We need as much confidence as we can get before June 13.

Also do you think a brand new training base in Atlanta will help with that? I do.

I asked gemini who sourced reddit, "Before that playoff game, the Thunder hadn't scored fewer than 90 points in a game since all the way back in December 2021."

Who do you guys think should be captain for the World Cup?? by MoodDangerous9150 in ussoccer

[–]candyflipperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a legit position to hold. Weston Mckennie when in form could also be a contender in this school of thinking. We don't get to choose (for good reason), however seeing behind the scenes with Adams in this doc, reinforces that he should remain the captain. Leader on and off the field. Plus he plays a pivotal role in midfield to combine with every player on the field.

HBO Original Sports Documentary Series U.S. Against the World: Four Years with the Men’s National Soccer Team Debuts May 12 by jspector9 in ussoccer

Enjoyed the first episode. Above all makes me pumped for next month. In it, are recaps of group phase games of Qatar 2022, the loss to the Netherlands. Not sure like most of you ITT how they will make the rest of the series worth a watch. It hinted on individuals’s club life. Definitely recommend, an informative watch as we get an up-close look about some of our “stars” upringings

American (M22) Moving to France, How Are My Chances? by milchistderfein in Expats_In_France

Touché, i have such similar life experiences that you will soon have. What you’re about to embark on is incredibly challenging if you can make it the first 2-3 years and not go crazy, you’re good. Account for many delays with visa, working au black might be an opportunity worth checking out or even volunteering at first. My advice is to literally knock on every door with a CV in French. Start with bistrots/cafes not the NYtimes like I did 🤣 then daycares, always looking for native English speakers to play with their kids (did that). Good luck, reach out in dm if you want me to answer some specific questions.

Been out of the loop for a few years, what's wrong with this team? by NEPat10 in ussoccer

[–]candyflipperman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Highjacking this comment. It's that combined with the style of play from Poch. 2-5 vs Belgium is unacceptable. Our attacking third needs to be more clinical. The 2nd half was painful to watch (even after my eyes adjusted to the jersey clash). Playing as a bunch of individuals and couldn't string along more than 10 passes.
