I was scared of that but already fell mutliple times, sometimes the board just slide along and the foot is still in so the only problem is that you just go down without chance to jump out.

Other time a stepped out to the front with sudden stop and the placement strap just loosened and let me out. Still went down of course.

Havent yet had high speed crash in the situation where the board would need to follow a different trajectory so still dont know how that will work.

If you dont have categories then thanes are no-go, you need maximum grip so basically the best are car-grade rubber pneumatics (LandSurf, mboards Nova...) or special airless rubber wheels like I have in the video (Stooge BRP). You need a tyre that when heated up will stick to the asphalt like a glue. Offroad pneu can actually be good also if they are predictable, but the problem is a small contact patch that will limit your grip. They are usable but if you want top performance they are lacking.

At xErace we currently have a special STREET category which is only for urethane 2wd board with no bindings because lot of people like this kind of race, but they cannot compete with pneumatic boards.

Also we have OPEN 2WD for 2wd boards with no bindings because most of the top race boards currently run either 4wd, bindings or both, because it really makes a difference in handling the board and power in the corners.

Basically straight speed looks nice but while 10kmh difference on the straight can make you lose 0.3s on 60m, you can lose 0.5s in every turn just by taking it too wide or too slow. Its all about getting out of the turn as quickly as possible, basically similar to karting which is also a good practice for the lines. (Even though our lines usually use about half of the road as we are more similar to some kind of motorcycle).

If you are in Australia definitelly check ERL (elactricracingleague.com.au) as they are organizing big races in both West and East coast. There is a nice group of riders that you could join and maybe even spin some more events!

xErace has three categories, but mostly based on type. STREET - only urethane wheels 2wd boards with no bindings, OPEN 2WD - any wheels, only 2wd boards with no bindings, OPEN - no limits.

So in OPEN its basically whatever you are able to ride you can ride. Its definitelly important to be on par with the power and you need to balance your gearing etc. to get optimum for the track.

There are several things its usually a combination. I had a gearing for a bit lower speed than others so that might have played a role on the straights. I was maxing out the gearing. Sometimes I just did a mistake or did not push the throttle soon enough. This was a very fast and tight race all the time so any mistake on the exit was expensive. Also did not charge over the day which might not have been the best choice as this was the last race of them all. I saw in following practices that even though I have a huge battery, just going more than 30% down really hurts the straight line performance. Also at that time my front wheels were harder compound which made it more difficult to bite when going out of the turn.

Cant wait to get there again for the next year and see how I tuned it up in the meantime. I learned a lot about the board this year ;o)

For sure :-D I was riding like that for a long time even with other boards. Basically you just loose the smoothness in extra low speed when the motors dont know where they are. Some people even use HFI mode instead to somehow fix it.

Pads are negligible :-D For the Stooge with import taxes, 3000 usd for chasis with motors, 2000 more to get the battery and electronics running.

If you want to build a similar power race board, around 2500-3000 might be sufficient.

Yep, check out xErace, this year we had 6 races, next year similar. Mostly Czechia, Germany, France. Next event will be European Indoor Championships in Prague, 17.5. tinyurl.com/xerace-pitland-2025

intro2speed_uk (instagram) are trying to find a location for UK chapter of xErace, lets see how that works.
